Position Overview
The Energy Efficiency Section works on policies to reduce domestic carbon emissions from industry, transport and buildings through energy efficiency measures. This work includes developing policies for activities under the Emissions Reduction Fund and the Ministerial Forum on Vehicle Emissions.
Major Tasks
Assist with research for developing methods under the Emissions Reduction Fund and other policy work.
Drafting ministerial correspondence and meeting briefs (divisional, departmental and ministerial).
Prepare agendas and papers for interdepartmental meetings.
Major Project for Placement
Contribute to work on Emissions Reduction Fund methods by researching discrete policy questions. The policy subjects are likely to be industrial energy efficiency or waste management.
Context
There will be opportunities to work on documents for the Minister such as ministerial correspondence. The role supports policy work on a central Government program – the Emissions Reduction Fund – that is a Divisional priority.
The work is team based with assistance from a supervisor. Some tasks like ministerial correspondence will have set deadlines but other tasks like policy question research may include setting your own priorities. The team will work with your needs and interests to find a role that suits you. The team is happy to accommodate flexible working arrangements.

Ideal Degree/Discipline
Not essential but a science or engineering background would be beneficial.
Eligibility Requirements
Currently studying in their penultimate or final year of a relevant undergraduate or post-graduate degree with an Australian university
Must be an Australian citizen Must be willing to undergo criminal history clearance
