PARTS OF THE COMPUTER(THE MOUSE AND PRINTER)Objectives:

At the end of this lesson, you will be able to:•Know the different mouse operation •Know what printer is and what it does•Know the proper position of the hands when using mouse, keyboard and computer

MOUSE/TRACKBALL

Are both pointing devices that are designed to move a big arrow pointer around the screen and point to a specific characters or objects.

PARTS OF THE MOUSE

MOUSE OPERATIONS

POINT – it means you move the mouse across a flat surface until the mouse pointer rests on the item of choice on the desktop.

CLICK – it means you press and release the primary mouse button (left click)

RIGHT CLICK – it means you press and release the secondary mouse button (right)

DOUBLE CLICK – you quickly press and release the left mouse button twice without moving the mouse.

DRAG – it means you point an item, hold down the left mouse button, move the item to the desired location and then release the left mouse button.

RIGHT – DRAG –it means you point to item, hold down the right mouse button, move the item to the desired location and then release the right mouse button. When you right drag an object, a shortcut menu displays.

THE PRINTER

printer is used to produced a hard copy on a paper for whatever information or images are displayed on the screen. There are two basic groups of printers: impact and non-impact.

DOT-MATRIX PRINTER

This is the best example of impact printer. It prints text and graphics by using pointed sized hammers that transfer into paper.

INK-JET PRINTER AND LASER PRINTER

This is the best example of non-impact printer.

SOME INPUT DEVICES:

Touch tablet - is used by designers, engineers and artist. They use it for drawing or designing a particular object.

BARCODE READER •it uses light rays to read a product code for the purpose of easy inventory and monitoring of product movements and status.

SCANNER

it converts photographs, drawings, charts, and other printed information into bit patterns which can be saved or stored in a computer’s storage device or main memory.

DIGITAL CAMERA•looks like an ordinary camera that we are using in taking pictures to preserve a treasured memories and special moments in our lives. However, a digital camera is not limited to capturing printed images; it capture snapshot of the real images. Instead of capturing images or pictures on the film.

WEB CAMis a small camera which images can be accessed through the internet, instant messaging, or in video conferencing.

MICROPHONE•it is used to record speech or make a telephone call.

JOYSTICK AND GAME PAD

are game controllers used by the users to play games in the computer alone or by group.

MOUSE

it is a pointing device use to select option from the list of menus.

KEYBOARD•A device that is use to communicate with the computer.

•It is the primary input device used for entering text.

SOME OUTPUT DEVICES:

LCD Projector – is used for presentation purposes which usually connected to our PC or laptop.

HEADPHONES OR HEADSETS / SPEAKER

•it is used to produce sounds that can be used for listening music.

MONITOR

•is a television like screen that displays pictures, text or images etc.

PRINTER

is device that is use for printing images and text on a paper.

PLOTTER •is typically a printer, but its primary use is in scientific and engineering applications, like printing large format images such as house blueprint drawing.
