• Paint will not hide problems

• Clean and prep as needed before starting

• Patch holes and smooth problem areas

• Bake at 225 for 10 minutes

• Gently sand sculpey areas smooth

• Sand any other rough spots

• Fit neckplug• Remove dust

from head

Paint

• Acrylic’s• Delta Ceramcoat,

Folkart, Apple Barrell (no Americana)

• Cheap• Washable• Easy to mix

Brushes

• Taklon synthetic• #6 or #8 for flesh/hair • #0 for eyebrows, facial

hair, etc…• 10/0 spotter for eyes

and detail• Cheap brushes cause

mental health problems• Clean after each use• Replace often!

Getting Started

• Organize yourself• Place for brushes,

paints, painted heads, tools

Prime?

• Color heads• Slick heads• Prime white if

needed

Painting• Flesh first• #6 or #8 brush• Thin coats, one at a

time. Let dry between coats.

• DO NOT GLOB• Use Exacto to pick

bits that show up after first coat when dry

• After 3 coats of Flesh

• Hair next• #6 or #8 brush• Don’t worry about

perfection yet• This is one coat,

several coats may be needed

• #0 brush, rough in eyebrows and eye whites

• Only one coat on the eye whites at this time

• #10/0 brush add black eyeliner

• #10/0 brush, clean up hairline with flesh

• Don’t worry if you have to fix your fix

Makeup

• Extend liner• Add eye shadow• Lipstick• Blush- Use old #6

brush and dab on color

• Re-dab with flesh
