DATES FOR YOUR DIARY
March
February
A huge welcome to our newest and biggest group of students……our Kindergartens and
their families. What a great start to their schooling. Congratulations to them all for
settling in so well to our school routines. We were so proud to include them as part of
our school on Monday and look forward to “learning together” and watching as they
grow and progress.
We can confirm our 17 classes but did have a minor re-structure to our classes last
Friday afternoon, which affected only a few students. This enables our classes to be
more even as we commence 2018 and this is a benefit to all. I thank those families who
supported our decision and assisted their children by being understanding. It’s great to
know our school community is positive and trusting.
Just a reminder to all parents as we start the year…….
Once the bell goes in the morning, please keep an
appropriate distance from the classroom and the
teacher. We ask that the areas directly outside all of
our classrooms remain free of parents as children
approach their class and get ready to line up with
their teachers.
Please allow students to carry and place their own bag on
hooks and at classrooms. Building resilience in your
children is crucial and this allows space for children
to organise their belongings and be prepared for and
aware of the teacher’s first instructions of the day.
The day can begin in a positive settled and calm
way for everyone.
Parent Information evening Wednesday 21st February
Each class teacher will hold a “Parent Information” session in their classroom on Wed
21st Feb. Parents will receive a note home in students’ bags today.

School Swimming Carnival
Our annual swimming carnival will be held next Wednesday 14th February for students in 3-6 and students in Year 2
who are turning 8 years old this year. Competitors must be able to swim 50 metres competently. It should be a great
day at Richmond Pool. House meetings will take place tomorrow when House Captain elections will take place. Good
luck to all of the students who are nominating for one of those positions. They will have a vital role in leading their
sport house next week at our first sporting carnival of the year. Can’t wait and our fingers are crossed for good
weather.
Student Representative Council
Currently classes are voting for Student Representative Council representatives. I’m looking forward to awarding
badges at an upcoming assembly in Week 5. More information on this in the coming weeks. Kindergarten will choose
their SRC reps in Term 2.
Assemblies
Due to an increasing in enrolments over the last two years, we have decided to make some changes to our assemblies.
After careful consideration we have created a timetable so that students will receive awards, perform items and
celebrate successes and achievements in a more effective way. The whole school will get together twice a term in
Weeks 5 and 10. These K-6 assemblies will featuring Principal Medals, special presentations, and messages. Students in
K-2 will have their own assembly as will students in 3-6. At these assemblies, students will receive PBL, class awards and
Henry Fulton awards. These assemblies will take place on alternate Fridays. All Friday assemblies will remain in the hall
and at the usual time of 1.40pm.
The Term 1, assembly roster is published later in this newsletter. Parents are always welcome at all of our Assemblies.
We hope to see many parents in attendance and supporting our changes.
We will keep our Monday morning assembly under the COLA to sing the National Anthem and raise the flags, give
important messages and review the PBL rule of the week. I ask that parents who attend our Monday morning assembly
wait behind all of our students and not at the sides. This will allow our classes, especially Kindergarten students free
passage to their classrooms. Thank you in anticipation of your support.
Staff Vacancies
The recruitment process to fill some of our vacant teacher positions has commenced. This term, I will be moving to fill a
classroom teacher position, the teacher librarian vacancy and an Assistant Principal. For each of these positons, the
school is able to make choices through a merit selection process. I thank Mrs Heinrich, Mrs Lance and Mrs O’Brien in
anticipation of their efforts to support the process and congratulate them as parent representatives on the selection
panels. I look forward to informing you of the progress of this process over the term.
Gymnastics
A five week gymnastics program began on Monday 5th for grades 3-6. The Monday program is delivered by experts and
they provide instruction and use of the equipment free of charge due to the Sporting School program grants. Years K-2
will enjoy the program in Term 2. Thanks to Mr Hearn for his organisation and planning.

Lastly…... Our first P&C meeting for 2018 will take place on Tuesday 13th February in the staff room at 2.00pm. I hope
to see many parents there and a special thank you to parents who have already started bringing in equipment that
teachers have requested. A big help for each of the classrooms……see you around school!

Nuts and Nut Products...Allergies and Anaphylaxis
All NSW Government schools have Allergy and Anaphylaxis procedures. Schools cannot ban certain foods that cause
allergic reactions and cannot guarantee that there will not be nuts products at school but we ask all parents to be
vigilant if their child has allergies.
We ask parents to:
· Notify the school if their child has a diagnosed allergy or health concern
· Complete an action plan and return it to school
· Educate their child to manage their own health issues
· Understand that nuts and nut products may be present at school
The school:
· Prefers not to have any nuts or nut products brought to school at all to minimise the risk of allergens but
acknowledges that nuts and nut products may be present at school
· Request that if foods are brought to school that they contain no nuts or nut products and that an
ingredient list is provided for food that will be shared
· Discourages sharing of food.
Crunch and Sip…..
This is a great way to keep energy up during the morning session. Children will need to bring a piece of fresh fruit or
vegetable….(nothing processed, dried or cooked) to eat at 10.00am. Students should bring water in their bottles and
we ask that these be plastic or metal, strictly NO GLASS BOTTLES or containers at school.

School Newsletter
After this “special edition”, the school newsletter will be published on Thursday of every fortnight in even weeks as per
the usual. It is distributed via the Skoolbag app, can also be found on the website and in hard copy in the school office
foyer. These avenues provide families with full colour copies and reduces cost of paper and copying expenses. It gives
us the opportunity to provide unlimited pages that include photos, pamphlets and news of school and community
events.
Skoolbag App
Our School now has our own Skoolbag iPhone and Android App to help us communicate more effectively with our Parent/Student community. Our newsletter is uploaded to the app once a fortnight, parents can also use the app to email change of details, and report when their children are sick/away. We also send parents updates regarding excursions and school events. For more detailed instructions on how to install the app, please come into the school office for a note.
Road Safety
Unfortunately we are regularly informed of unsafe parking and dangerously driving around our school. Usually at pick-
up time, around the round-about, in and around the kiss and drop” zone and the staff car park. Children are being put
at risk by being called across the road to get in to cars and parents are pulling up in unsafe locations. Please assist by
parking safely, walking an extra bit further to collect your children, using the “kiss and drop” zone as it is intended and
observing road rules and road signs. We ask that parents never walk through the school/staff car park to access the
school. This is not a safe area for pedestrians.

Henry Fulton has registered for Coles Sport for Schools in 2018. During the program, families will be able to collect
Coles Sports for Schools vouchers for our school from Coles stores, and bring them to school so that we can exchange
them for sporting equipment.
For every $10 spent at Coles during the program will earn a voucher. The more vouchers we collect, the more sporting
equipment we will be able to receive.
There will be a collection box in the front office for students to place their vouchers, these will be tallied and exchanged
at the end of the program.
Thank you to those eager students who have already handed vouchers in! We hope to have lots of vouchers to
exchange for new sporting gear for our school.

Hi Everyone,
Hello 2018! Welcome back from what has hopefully been a fun and refreshing summer and also, a lovely, big welcome to all our new students and families. We hope that you’ve settled in happily and for the Kindy’s, we hope that you’ve all adjusted to the new routines and new independence that is Big School.
Our first meeting for the year is next week and we’d love for you to come along. In addition, we’ll send out a note to join the P&C and, if you’re not able to attend, you’ll be on our email list and receive copies of the minutes every month. You can certainly be a part of the school community even if you’re ability to come into the school is limited – we appreciate everyone’s input and value our diverse parent community.
School Banking on Tuesday mornings is up and running so don’t forget to help your kids bring in their bank books and start the year creating a solid, saving habit for them. If you would like more information or would like to join up, please speak to our Tuesday Volunteers or email us and we’ll make it happen - pandchenryfultonps@gmail.com.
