WHAT you ate, but HOW much you ate. If you have not yet done this, please

Let’s Review CALORIES measure the amount of

energy in your food. Calories can be good or bad.

You need to eat calories in order to survive.

You want to make wise choices about how you get your calories. A 500 calorie sandwich is better than a 500 calorie milkshake.

Burning Calories Calories supply energy to your body. Every action your body performs

requires calories. This includes breathing, thinking, blinking, swallowing, and keeping your heart pumping.

The amount of calories you need just to survive—staying in bed all day—is called your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR).

GREAT! It looks like you understand the basics

of nutrients. Now it’s time to find out if you are getting the right amount of each.

After some brief instructions, you will click on a link that will take you to an online nutritional analysis tool.

Next, please

Instructions for the Nutritional Analysis 1. Enter your personal info

2. Start typing in foods/beverages from your list. After you hit “add food” you will choose what specific food (i.e. Wheaties instead of just “cereal”) and how much you ate (i.e. 2 servings of 1 cup each).

3. Continue clicking “add food” until your list is done. For some foods, you might have to add individual ingredients (peanut butter + jam + bread)

4. Finally click “Analyze Foods”

Next

Final Instructions After getting your analysis,

look at the first four rows (Calories, Protein, Fats, Carbs). On the far right, it will tell you what percentage of the recommended amount you consumed. You are hoping for close to 100% in every category.

When you are done, MINIMIZE Internet Explorer, and click the LAST STEP button on this screen. That will open a Word Document. You may then press ESC to close this screen, and finish the hour answering questions in Word.Take me to
