In this particular case, barcode labelshad to be attached to the pallet in a fully automated process. Thechallenge was in achieving secure bonding to wood, while at thesame time allowing automatic label application. Automatedprocesses require a stable foil. To achieve a good bond to a roughsurface like wood, a high degree of flexibility and strong adhesionare required. Tests showed that these competing objectives can beachieved. The solution: GRAPHIPLAST® 7277 with PK-80-601adhesive, which met all the requirements at first attempt. This wasimportant step for the user, because automation creates costbenefits and secure processes.

-> Strong solution for the chemical industryThe identification of drums in the chemical industry is a verydemanding application. -> Color codes for material flow controlWhether it is for status monitoring of containers or passing throughgauge and testing stations - for the material flow the availability ofstatus information is essential. -> Better bond for self-adhesive labels with rollerAttaching an adhesive label is an important process, the mainfactor for bonding strength. Even application and contact pressuredetermine the adhesive strength that is actually achieved. Toachieve a permanent bond, the use of a simple roller, similar to theones used for wallpapering, is recommended. This simple devicealso prevents the contamination of labels, for instance by dirtygloves. You can find this solution in any DIY store, or you canrequest a test roller from Seidl + Partner, because sticking todifficult products requires great care.

-> Legible barcodes despite damaged thermal transferprinting headManufacturers of thermal transfer printers usually give a guaranteeon the life of the printing head, based on a printing output of 50km. This guarantee applies to the use of self-adhesive paperlabels. Robust plastic labels require the use of high-quality ribbons,resulting in higher printing temperature and more wear and tear,due to the harder surface material. These are all factors reducingthe life of a print head. Missing single dots can reduce the legibilityof barcodes, if the barcode is printed horizontally or "picket fence"position. The alternative: a vertical layout of the barcode, "ladder"position, and a suitable bar width which increases legibility. Wewill be happy to advise you on this subject.
