Item 1: Updates on past events
1) U-Study Campaign
- To be improved:
Usher crowd into sheltered area
Prevent double-queuing
Prevent post-graduate students from queuing by requesting
students to flash their matriculation cards before collecting the
package.
Response for tutorial rooms were fairly well received.
- Semester 2:
Due to budget constraints, the NTUSU Utensil set cannot be
included in the package this semester as previously planned.
Other items to be considered: note pad, mouse pad, coasters,
lanyard, photo frame, and umbrella, hand towel.
Tentatively, hand towels will be the new addition to the
package.
2) MOE-PRC Camp
- The camp ran smoothly.
- No accidents occurred.
- Attendance was satisfactory.
Item 2: Updates on upcoming events
1) U-Flea market/U-Pushcart
Note/Action
- Theme: “I Love U-Flea”
- Target number of vendors: 18 (5 have been found so far)
- To be improved:
Location should be booked at least 2 months before as
February is a peak period for booking of canopy areas.
- U-Pushcart will be opened when the semester 2 starts, when the
vinyl covers are ready.
- 3 booths will be up and running on 24th January 2011.
- Rules and regulation to be reinforced: No stickers/decals should
be pasted on the pushcarts.
- Penalties must be imposed on vendors who break the rules.
- Publicity for the U-Pushcarts should be done up to officially
introduce this initiatives to the student population.
2) Open House
- 9-10 February 2011: Recruitment of ambassadors (in meeting
rooms 1, 2, 3 and ops room).
- 12 March 2011: Open House. Excos are to be present to man the
booth.
- A new initiative, a dance competition, will be introduced to the
event.
- Gel is to do up the SU booth and the U-Photography booth.
- The SU booth is to be blue.
3) ICTF
Gel is to be in charge of designing the SU booth and the U-Photography booth for Open House.

- Opening ceremony: 7 February 2011, 11.30am-12.30pm. All
Excos are to be present from 11.15am.
- Performances and decoration have been confirmed.
- Major sponsors have been confirmed.

4) Students’ Fund
- International Food Fair: 7-8 April 2011
Target number of vendors: 25
- BHG Bazaar: 5-7 April 2011
- “10, 000 Pixels”: contributors can buy and design their own tile on
the website and the contributions will go to SF.
5) Exhibition and Meet the People Session
- 21-25 February 2011 (must be held before recess week)
- The MPS will be held a few days after the exhibition.
- U-Shout mobile (at canopy K): 3-4 topics will be posted for
students to express their views on.
- The exhibition will focus on visual presentation.
- Objectives: To display objectively what the Union has been doing
for the students and to encourage feedback (on the U-Shout
mobile).

Item 3: OCBC/Singtel Contract
1) OCBC contract
- The proposal to redraft the contract was rejected.
2) Singtel contract
- Possibility of re-contracting once the current contract ends.
- Contract should be re-drafted to exclude the agreement to send out
emails on Singtel’s behalf.
- Certain contract terms are to be discussed during the next Council
meeting.
Item 4: A.O.B
- Feedback on the U-Shout Forum
Shuttle buses: drivers are rude and unhelpful.
NTU revamp: Students prefer to go out of NTU to have fun.
Cheaper rates would attract more students.
Toilets: Unhygienic, especially in Can A and SRC.
U-ROC Lounge: More board games and card games could be
provided.
Examinations: Study areas could be improved on.
Reading rooms: Hogging of seats should be prevented.
Religious and vulgar comments are not allowed on the
Expression board. Excos who see any of such posts should remove
them from the board immediately.

Excos whose events need AAO funding have to inform
Ramanan before 6 February 2011.
- NTUnique
Discounts could be offered based on a privilege card system,
instead of the current matriculation card system
- U-Swap
Will be publicized in the first mass mailer of the year.
Will be online during the add-drop period.
Terms of use should be emphasized: Money should not be
involved.
- Ministerial Forum
Invite has been sent to the Prime Minister’s Office.
Second week of September (before recess week)
- BP Mentoring
Sessions start on the second week of February
- Union Day
There will no longer be a stage for the event.
Publicity of the event will be “on the move”; people will be
mobilized as walking advertisements.
- Moving of SAC
12 February 2011, 10am-3pm.
Trucks will arrive on 16-18 February 2011 to move bulky items
like tables.
SCV channels in the Global Lounge: 3 news channel (Al-
Excos whose events need AAO fundind have to inform Ramanan before 6 February 2011.

- Peer-tutoring
Publicity for recruitment was not enough.
Another round of interviews will be held in semester 2.
- Keying in of ECA records
All Excos with sub-committees are to send Marchelina an
updated version of the sub-com database.
- Shuttle bus
- Number of buses from Tong Tar Transport did not meet that
stated in the contract. SAO has taken action against Tong Tar
Transport.
- IT and Printing
Printers in hall are to start operation in semester 2.
A write-up is to be done by Sonali on the top-up machines in
the Tribune Union page.
- Finance
Financial term is closing on 28 February 2011. All receipts and
invoices are to be submitted to Tanya or Ming Shuan before this
date for reimbursement to take place.
- IT sharing session
Ricky is to organize a session early in semester 2.
An email invite will be sent to all Council members once the
date has been confirmed.
Sonali is to do a write-up in the Tribune Union page on the top-up machines available on campus. Ricky is to organize an IT sharing session for the Council members.
Note/Action
- Kai Xiang’s update
The old icon noticeboard is to be converted into a free-for-all
noticeboard where students are allowed to post flyers and notices
without the need for SAO’s approval.
Disclaimers, rules and regulations will be explicitly stated
beside the noticeboard.
The Union van will be scrapped. Announcements will be made
officially through mass email and in the SU website.
Union shop: A proposal must be written to take over the rights
to print merchandise with the NTU logo and brand. Any empty
pushcarts leftover from the U-Pushcart project will be used to sell
Union shop merchandise.
Union day and welcome week to be merged into one big event
lasting 2 weeks. A proposal will be brought up during the next
Council meeting.
After every event, in addition to the post event reports, photos
should be submitted to Gel in CDs.
