ESTABLISHMENT
Officially established in January, Chào Vietnam became the 3rd sub club under SMU International Connections (SMUIcon)
Supported by the Vietnamese community at SMU
Founded by a group of passionate and enthusiastic group of Vietnamese students
VISION STATEMENT
The SMU Vietnamese Society aspires to
become the connection point linking
up SMU community and the country of
Vietnam through the bridge of culture
and business.
MISSIONS
The SMU Vietnamese Society aims to contribute
its distinct cultural traits to the diversity and
vibrancy of SMU, and to promote greater
interaction between all members of the school
community. At the same time, we endeavor to
facilitate learning and working opportunities of
all interested parties by opening up enormous
business prospects through the window of an
up-and-running economy of Vietnam
OBJECTIVE
To reflect a positive image of the country and people of Vietnam.
To promote dynamic cultural exchange and global networking between Vietnam and SMU, adding to our university’s cosmopolitan vibrancy.
To represent the Vietnamese community at SMU in interaction with various clubs and communities, inside and outside school.
To strengthen the bonds amongst the Vietnamese community through various club activities and academic sharing.

• Send your nomination(s) to [email protected] by 11.59am, Thursday, 29/10.
• Self nomination is accepted. • The election committee shall keep the information of nomination
CONFIDENTIAL prior to the Release Date of candidate list.• Only those who submit their resume and election essay to
[email protected], by 11.59am, Thursday, 29/10, will be qualified for election and invited to present in the Debate session.
• Essay: no restriction as to length, language and writing style.• DEBATE SESSION, Friday, 30/10
• The name is rather misleading, because it is actually a sharing session whereby the candidates get to express their view points and receive questions and feedbacks from the audience.
• Each candidate (regardless of nominated position) will have 2 minutes to introduce themselves and express why they should be voted for the nominated position(s).
• Candidates of Director position will be given exactly 10 minutes to express themselves and attract votes from the constituents.
• Presentations of all candidates will be video-taped and made public in Chao Vietnam forum
