- civic engagement by turnout
- ability of municipalities to obtain funding
MY RESERCH - Methodology -
After the data collection phase, I had to define the number and types of
variables to be used in the construction of the model for the classification and
mapping of the 377 municipalities in Sardinia.
The following table collected these indexes:
Variables

Based on these selected items, I decided to aggregate the data by
constructing an indicator equal to the average of all indices.
Employment rate, employment rate of women: index of senility, rate of schools, rate
of instructed, rate of associations; turnout; funding (€ per capita)
MY RESERCH - Results -
The analytical work was completed with the development of a series of maps.
These maps represent the distribution of social capital on the Sardinian
territory as Cartocci did in 2007 but also with the representation of all the
variables in the form of graphics.

that refers to the employment rate.
MY RESERCH - Results -
The aggregation of all data allowed the construction of a single map that
defined the distribution of social capital by town.
The Sardinian realities were divided into 6 clusters with values ranging from -
0.5 to +0.5.
The towns on the coast are characterized by
higher values of social capital. The realities of

higher values of social capital. The realities of
a larger size, among other things, such as
provincial capitals or other municipalities with
more than 10 000 inhabitants, have the
highest values.
MY RESERCH - Territorial policies -
A clear example of this phenomenon is the area that I chose for define a
number of guidelines for local development. The area I studied is the
Monteleone Area composed by the municipalities of Villanova Monteleone,
Romana, Monteleone Roccadoria, Montresta.

In addressing the issue of public policies, I decided to build three strategic
axes and many specific actions for each of them.

MY RESERCH - Conclusions -
Would be useful, for better understanding and use of data, extend the search
field, trying to insert in measuring also the cultural heritage, in order to
promote a new form of development based on these two new elements.
Another interesting element of research is the relation and the connection
between the municipalities and the surrounding territories. Based on my
previous research, is evident that the social capital of a city can influence
