International President Naresh Aggarwal I grew up in a town called Batala, in Punjab-a stare in the northwest of India. Like many young children I dreamed of conconquering the world. However, the means to this end were more important to me. I wanted to lead through kindness.
I dreames of changing not just Batala, but the entire world. In 1974, when I first stood in the presence of Lions. I knew I had aligned myself with an organization that could actually help me achieve my dream.
We Lions are one with the people of the world. In Sanskrit it is called “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” or “World is my family.”
The key to making the world one family, or one home, rests within us – the 1.4 million Lions who dedicate themselves to the nees of others. If each Lion serves at least 10 people per month, we will easily achieve our goal of serving 200 million eah year-tripling our service output.
At the 2015 International Convention in Honolulu, I said, “Nothing is more powerful than an idea whose time has come.” Our most auspicious time—the new century has come.
District Governor Lary Garrison District Governor Lary was born and raised in Livingston, MT. His father, Ben, was a railroad engineer for the Northern Pacific and Burlington Northern Sante Fe railroads. Lary’s mother (Onnalee) was a dental assistant for Dr. Crissey.
Lary has a twin brother, Gary, and a sister, Shirley (Punky). Lary graduated from Park County High School and attended the University of Montana (history and political science), Napa Valley Jr. College (art) and Portland Community College (art).

Lary has been married to wife, Judy, for 45 years as of December 2, 2017. Lary and Judy have four sons between them twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren with two more on the way.
Lary first joined Lions in Redding, CA with the Enterprise Lions Club, later transferring to the Forest Grove Oregon Club, the Albany Oregon Lions, the Billings Lions, the Billings Heights Lions and now with the Huntley Project Lions.
In his twenty-five years as a Lion, Lary has served at most club officer levels, as well as zone and district offices. DG Lary also served as DG in the old MD37 from 2012-2013, Acting DG for District 37 for 2016-2017 and now as your DG for 2017-2018.
Lary is a Melvin Jones recipient, was recognized with 1 Presidential Medal for Leadership, has received 3 International Presidents Certificates of Appreciation, is a Life Member of the Montana Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation and has a PID Tom Lehman Fellowship, has completed the Bachelors and Masters programs from Lions Clubs University and is a Guiding Lion.
Judy is also a Melvin Jones recipient and has a PID Gary Tschache Fellowship from the Montana Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation.
As we move into our second hundred years of Lionism, DG Lary looks forward to working with you, your clubs, zones, regions and District 37, and International to continue our past successes as well as developing new ones to meet our service goals as Lions.
1st Vice District Governor Dennis Kopitzke VDG Dennis grew up in Columbia Falls. Received a B.S. from Rocky Mountain College (Economics and Business Administration).

Served 4 years in the Marine Corps. Taught and coached in Froid, Westby and Noxon before moving to Forsyth in 1979. Received his M.Ed. in Secondary School Administration from the University of Montana. Taught, coached, served as activities director and served as 7-12 principal.
Married to wife Linda in 1988. Retired from education and has served lengthy terms as Forsyth school board member, Chamber member and board member, president of the board of Rosebud Health Care Center, board member Southeast Montana Development Corporation, board member Visit Southeast Montana Tourism and completing 4th year as Mayor of Forsyth.
Joined the Forsyth Lions Club in 1996. Has served as a club officer for 16 of those years, finishing 4th term as president. Served on the district 37 cabinet for 17 years. In the 17th year of service as administrator of the Montana Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation. VDG Dennis is a Foundation Life Member, Foundation Fellow and recipient of PID Dave Hajny, PID Tom Lehman and PID Gary Tschache Fellowships.
2nd Vice District Govenor Verna Love Verna D. Love, a former resident of California, re-located to Montana in 2010 and introduced to Lions and the Butte Mile-Hi Lions in 2011. Currently a member of the Dillon Lions Club.
VDG Verna has served as zone chair for zones 1 and 4; she is a guiding Lion, Melvin Jones Fellow, Life Member of the Montana Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation.
VDG Verna has been very active in our leadership forums: selected as presenter at the 2017 USA/Canada, Portland; presenter at the district’s first Montana Forum held in Billings; and was a presenter at the Montana Leadership Training session held in Glendive.

VDG Verna has numerous other Lions accomplishments: Region Chair Award, 2016; Zone Chair Award, 2017; Lions University Graduate, Bachelors and Masters certification, 2016; attendee at the 2016 USA/Canada Forum; Graduate of Lions Regional Institute, 2015; graduate of Emerging Lions Leadership Institute, 2014; Lion of the Year Award, 2012-2013 and 2014-2015.
VDG Verna resides in the Big Hole River Valley, South of Butte. She has two daughters, Racquel McQueen and Valerie McQueen-Bakker; four granddaughters and two grandsons. Verna is an alumni of California State University of Northridge and Western State University College of Law in Fullerton, California.

PROTOCOL FOR DISTRICT GOVERNOR’S OFFICIAL VISIT To assist Clubs in observing proper protocol, the following guidelines are being provided: Delegate a member, or members, to meet the District Governor upon arrival and see that he/she is properly entertained prior to call to order.
Be sure that the place of honor, next to the President, on the right, at the head table, is reserved for the District Governor. The Zone Chairman, if accompanying, should be seated to the right of the Governor.
Advise your Program Chairman in advance of the Governor’s visit to avoid a conflicting program. The District Governor is the program.
The accepted form of introduction is for the Club President to introduce the Zone Chairman, who will, in turn, introduce the District Governor.
Advise the Tailtwister to go easy on the Governor. He/She is usually a good sport, but Tailtwisters, at times, get carried away, making things uncomfortable.
Remind members, at meetings preceding his visit, that his/her Office demands respect; that they should rise and salute the Governor with applause when he/she is introduced; and further, that any member addressing the Governor should stand when doing so.
Remember that he/she would like to meet with the Club Officers and Directors either prior or following your regular meeting. Try to have 100% representation.
Do not hesitate to discuss Club programs with your District Governor. It is his/her job to help solve problems and give new ideas to Clubs that have run out of ideas. Maybe your Club has ideas that will help others. Make this meeting with your District Governor a real “down to earth get-together.”
