They are especially looking forward to the Colts and their upcoming season. That got me to thinking. Isn’t our Lions organization much like a football team? We both have officers and they too in the form of front office personnel and coaches. For example the NFL has a President Roger Goddell and we have Joe Preston as our International President. Let’s examine and compare the organizations at a more basic level. A team such as the Colts has an owner and we as Lions have owner(s) (the member- ship). They have a head coach. We have a District Governor. Both are charged with insuring a smooth running of the team and of course winning. They, how- ever, don’t do it all by themselves. They have help. There is an offensive coordi- nator and we have a Global Membership Team Leader. They have a defensive coordinator. We have a Global Leadership Team Leader. They have a General Manager overseeing the evaluating and drafting of players. We have our Vice Dis- trict Governors. They are out there visiting with clubs looking at the membership discovering those Lions they deem worthy of filling positions of leadership and encouraging them to do so. They have assistant coaches for positions such as quarterbacks, receivers, offensive and defensive linemen, linebackers, safeties, cor- ner backs and kickers. Those coaches aid in seeing the players are in shape and able to do to do their jobs. We have our Zone Chairs and Club officers perform- ing those functions on our Lions team. A football game has four quarters. We likewise divide our District year into four quarters. We have Organization Day, a fall and winter Cabinet Meeting and a Dis- trict Convention. In case of a tie at the end of regulation time there is an overtime period. We also provide for overtime as we have a State Convention. From this I think it is a good analogy when looking at a football team and our Lions team. Both have to work hard to insure success. Nothing comes easy. Teams practice to insure they are at the top of their game. I know the Lions of District 25F are out there working hard to insure those “We Serve” benefit from our practice, efforts and winning endeavors. I say “Go Team”. You’re Number One in my book.

Lions All 1VDG John Brown

The new year is off to a roaring start throughout District 25F. In the last month I have had the pleasure of volunteering at the State Fair with the Lions Foundation selling and taking tickets. Lions Bob Howard, Jean Howard and Bob Booher do a fantastic job of coordinating all the volunteers and the atmosphere is always enjoyable at the State Fair. I recommend highly that you volunteer for this great project next year! I have had the pleasure of attending two Club Visitations with Governor Uhrig in the past month. I want to thank Southport and Madison Lions Clubs for their gracious hospitality and I look forward to being with you again next year when I am governor. For many of you meeting me for the first time or who are new to Lionism I want to share a little back-ground information about myself. I live in Indianapolis and I am a proud member of the Pike Township Lions Club. My wife Ann and I are the proud parents of two daughters Alison and Katherine. I became a Lion in 2001 and was sponsored and mentored by PDG Bob Price. My career over the past 35 years has been in the field of Agriculture and it gives me a unique perspective on District 25F. I have had the pleas-ure of traveling on business to many of the towns, cities and through the farm country that makes up Dis-trict 25F. I am looking forward to meeting you over the coming months and making many new friends and building on the relationships that I already have made. See you soon!

Wow 2nd Vice District Governor Wayne T. Karanovich Jr.

I am so proud to be serving with such a great group of Lions here in 25-F. Our lion year is off with a bang..... I went to Toronto and had a great time with fellow Lions around the world. DG Bill Uhrig , 1st VDG John Brown and myself learned lots of new and exciting stuff. We participated in the voting and helped elect our 2nd Vice President from Tennessee. Since returning I have been to Camp Woodsmoke and been visiting clubs. Each and every visit I have with different clubs I walk away with something that will help me to be better Lion. I went to Indianapolis and worked the fair with other members of our Rich-mond Club and boy was that fun. If you have never worked at the fair you need to ...........what fun and it is for a great cause. PIP Wayne Madden encouraged us to try to get more of the clubs to participate in our state convention as it is a real honor for us to have the International President to attend our convention. I know first hand that this years convention is going to be the best this state has ever seen as PCC Topf is in charge and she is a real go getter. I will be traveling with the DG team as many times as possible this year and look forward to seeing all the neat things you are doing . I am proud to serve you as 2nd VDG.
