Presidents Report

Two weeks of parking cars and scanning tickets in the rain, wind and sun; two weeks of early starts, egg and bacon sand-wiches and sore feet is now behind us. Two weeks of mem-bers providing great support to Roy and the Rotary Club ofHuntingdale to help the club raise a good portion of this yearsfundraising budget. Well done to all members who contribut-ed to this major fundraiser. Sunday night saw 22 members

and partners and the irrepressible Sallie Geary enjoy a relax-ing post parking banquet at the Mei Hing in Highett with acheeky little sauvignon blanc or shiraz.

We still have one more fundraiser, Thursday night at theBeaumaris Theatre however, before we enjoy the hospitalityof Woodlands Golf Club and their Nine and Dine. We nowhave 21 members playing golf so Martin has increased ouravailable tee slots to 28. Please contact me if you want toplay golf, have dinner or both. There will be a sign up sheetat the Beaumaris Theatre on Thursday.

Ken Mirams advised dur-

ing the week that thegazebo in the ReflectionsGarden at Sandringhamhospital is nearing com-pletion and may requirea working bee to paint itwhen finished. Ken willno doubt send out a re-quest for volunteerswhen required.

Received a note from Adrian on Friday saying that his opera-tion went very well, the surgeon found and resolved

the problem and the pain is completely gone. Adrian did saythat his vision was not quite right yet but should come good indue course and that he was managing with one eyed in meantime. He is still a bit groggy but was discharged on Saturdayfor home based r&r. He also thanked Members for their getwell wishes and the hamper.

Bianca from the VGC advised that the cost of the Christmasparty will be $55 which includes a two course meal and enter-tainment and will be in the main dining room. We need toknow who will be attending as soon as possible so that Suecan arrange the Kris Kringle ($10 maximum gift that must bepurchased at an Op shop). We will advise you of your giftrecipient once we know who is attending.

World Cup Golf Car Parking

President Robert has talked about what an excellent jobhas been done by RCOB members, their wives and otherhelpers over the last two weeks in supporting the carparking.

The World Cup stage of this is remembered in a photocollage on the next page. Centre left in the photo is Roy

Seager, showing the way as he has at these events forso many years.

This was the last year that Roy will be the coordinator ofthe RCOB parking team. James Glenwright has nowbeen issued with his “Certificate of Competence” and willtake over the role in future.

I am sure that James will be able to carry on the role withgreat skill into the future. He can have had no bettermentor than Roy with his unfailing ability to absorb all thepressures that the weather and “interesting” personalities

have thrown up over the years and respond with a smile.

Of course it is impossible to mention Roy’s contributionwithout also mentioning Pat Seager who was alwaysthere supporting him; on the course and off.

Thank you both for a job well done.

Hocking Stuart Sandringham62-64 Station Street

Note; As part of our arrangement with Hocking Stuart discountson agents fees are available to RCOB members.

Note ; This is a ladies only function.

Cheetah, Serengeti

Photograph by Eva Liang,

A gazelle's blood stainedthe cheetah's mouth. Tak-en in Serengeti NationalPark in Tanzania, Africa.

The cheetah's closed eyesand curled tail lend an in-congruous daintiness tothis photograph. Far fromconveying the savagery ofthe kill, this image showsus cheetah as epicure, savouring the end of agourmet meal.
