Why a Repair Café? Repair Café is a meeting in which people repair household electrical and mechanical devices, computers, clothing, etc. They are organised by EKO-TCE (non profit company) from Vojnik. Repair Café are held at a fixed location where tools are available and where they can fix their broken goods with the help of master. Its objectives are to reduce waste, to maintain repair skills and to strengthen social cohesion.

Effective communication tools to promote REDUCE and REPAIR in cooperation with the municipality Vojnik.

The concept was devised by Martine Postma in 2009 in Amsterdam. In 2th July 2017 the number of Repair Cafés climbed 1320.

Why a Repair Café Vojnik?

We throw away vast amounts of stuff. Even things with almost nothing wrong, and which could get a new lease on life after a simple repair. The trouble is, lots of people have forgotten that they can repair things themselves or they no longer know how. Knowing how to make repairs is a skill quickly lost. Society doesn’t always show much appreciation for the people who still have this practical knowledge, and against their will they are often left standing on the sidelines. Their experience is never used, or hardly ever.

Repair Cafés are free meeting places and they’re all about repairing things (together). In the place where a Repair Café is located, you’ll find tools and materials to help you make any repairs you need. On clothes, furniture, electrical appliances, crockery, appliances, toys, et cetera. You’ll also find experts/ masters, with repair skills in all kinds of fields. Visitors brings their broken items from home. Together with the experts they start making their repairs in the Repair Café. It’s an ongoing learning process. If you have nothing to repair, you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee.. You can take the cup with you.

Repair Cafe Vojnik links local handy people to folks in need of repairs of all kinds, especially: • clothing, • appliances, • electronics, • jewelry, • furniture ... and more, all in the spirit of stewardship of our planet's resources and zero waste. The Repair Cafe is inspired by the philosophy of a Sharing Economy. We share our time, skills and talents to build a more vibrant and satisfied local community.
