• Browse and select an image from your computer and simply upload.

• Or

• Google search something you may like to use, save it to the desktop and then browse and select an image from your computer and upload.

Ignore 2 & 3 for the moment and select 4 Post a status update

Post a status update

• E.g.

• Welcome to the class facebook page. This is a place to communicate and share thoughts and ideas with your classmates. Feel free to upload articles, links and videos you find relevant and interesting.

Post a link

• Go to a website you want to share with students. Copy the URL (right click copy)

Right click and paste the link into here

The link is now on the page so introduce it and share

Tell your students about the class facebook page. Tell them they can find it by simply searching in facebook or send them the URL. Ask

them to join by ‘liking’ the page

Facebook do’s

• Introduce web links and say what you like about the video, website etc.

• Encourage students by ‘liking’ their contributions and occasionally participating in discussions.

• Tell students in class that there is a good link on the class FB page.

• Discuss links/conversations from the class FB page in class.

• Ensure students are aware of what is acceptable and monitor FB activity for appropriacy.

• Look for current useful information to share and enjoy learning with your students.

• Spend 5-10mins a day ‘watering’ your class page.

Facebook don'ts

• Don't post too much as this can often prevent student discussion/participation. This might be because the students do not want to question the teacher.

• Don’t insist on participation. Participation is probably not graded and one or two students will not be comfortable with using FB.

• Don’t set up the page, tell the students about it and forget about it.
