Illustration and layout are based off of the hit series Game of Thrones. Jon Snow is the illigitimate son of Eddard Stark, head the Northern-

most kingdom in the series. Here he is shown running through the woods past the Wall, an ice structure guarded by the men of black who keep out the miscreants and other supernatural forces that exist beyond the king-dom. Snow’s companion, Ghost, is an albino wolf found at birth with his siblings - each of which belong to Snow’s half-brothers and sisters.

The linework was inked traditionally and scanned into the computer for arrangement. Jon Snow, Ghost, and the forest are all on different layers which aided in the composition, as each individual piece could be moved around to find the best layout. Traditionally made textures (for example, the snow is a water color texture that was scanned into the computer) are mixed with flat computer coloring to generate the effects seen.

Svana and the

DragonOnce upon a time, there was a

very small girl... Svana and the Dragon is a tale illustrated and authored by Hazel Varanese. It follows the tri-als and tribulations of a little girl, pushed into

maturity by the destruction of her home village and family. On her journey of revenge to take

back the family shield, she comes to a harrowing realization that the raidering village is the same

as hers.

Originally created to match the style and feel of the Urban Outfitters brand for

in in-store poster or catalog cover, Winter Animals stands alone as a quirky illustration. The winter feel becomes complete as the snow-capped mountains and hot coffee bring a pleasant juxtaposition of warm and cold. Bundled up, these animals are fashionable as well as interesting and suave. Overall human-istic tendencies and anatomy make the piece relatable to the viewer.

Blending traditional and digital mediums, this piece was created with much of the same process as the Northern Woods.
