About SPR and WDQISPR has provided technical assistance to three rounds of grant-supported Workforce Data Quality Initiative (WDQI) projects in a combined twenty-nine states. WDQI is supported by the US Department of Labor and works closely with its sister program in the US Department of Education – the Standard Longitudinal Data Systems (SLDS) initiative. WDQI states are building data systems that link labor, education, and related program data, making it possible to track student progress from pre-kindergarten through participation in the labor force, while protecting individual privacy. For the first time, participating states are able to determine the effects of different programs and interventions on people with different circumstances and characteristics over time and across communities – without long, costly one-off studies. Together, we are building the intelligence systems required for evidence-based policy making and meaningful, ongoing labor market analysis, one dataset at a time.
