Volume 29, Number 8 February 19, 2014
In Hemmingway’s A Farewell to Arms, one of the characters says these words, “Life
breaks us all—and afterward some of us become strong in the broken places.” Life
does have a way of breaking us all during the course of the journey. Some are de-
stroyed by the brokenness; some are made stronger.
Brokenness is a spiritual process whereby God shapes the lives of His children. It is always painful
but oh so productive for those who embrace what God is doing. As we continue our series, Spiritu-
al Cardiology, this week we are thinking together about the broken heart. We’ve all been there.
Some of us are there even now. So I’ve taken the liberty to make an appointment for you to see Dr.
God this Sunday at either 8:15 or 10:50. Let’s see what Dr. God can do with a broken heart. See
you Sunday.
Your Pastor,
John

‘PRAYER 7-5-2’ A Church-Wide 90-Day
Home Emphasis Intentional
Kicks Off Sunday, Feb. 23! Last month we launched the Generation Ministry for our church.
The heart of the Generation Ministry is the Intentionals. The Intentionals are
specific activities or emphases that will be happening church wide in our
homes. Our first 90-Day Home Emphasis is a prayer focus. Prayer is foun-
dational, so what better emphasis to start with.
Here’s what you need to do: on Sunday, Feb. 23 before or after either of the services,
stop by the Home Front Center in the church foyer. There we will have packets for each home in
our church that will have all the contents and information you need to do this in your home. Also,
when we pick up the packet, we will have a list for families/individuals to sign that they took a
packet and give their email. The reason for this is that we want to resource you with articles, ide-
as, inspirational quotes and give encouragement to you/your family during the 90 Days Prayer 7-5-
2 Home Emphasis being done in your home.
We are VERY excited to launch out in this first Home Emphasis Intentional and we hope
and pray it will be a great blessing to you and your family! And remember: when we use the term
‘family’ we don’t just mean parents w/kids at home! These Intentionals, and much of what we
will be doing through the Generation Ministry, are church wide activities. So whether you have
kids at home, are empty-nesters and/or have grandkids, are a married couple with no kids, are sin-
gle with no plans to marry or are single and look forward to being married/having kids someday,
there is something in this Intentional for you!
