2016 HIGHLIGHTSPOWERING OUR COMMUNITIES

Rising Water, Helping Hands:Employees mobilize to provide support for flood-impacted communities.

On August 8, 2016, the rains began. They continued unabated for 48 hours. By then, enough rain had fallen on Central Louisiana to fill 274 Superdomes – more than 7 trillion gallons of water. Federal disaster declarations were issued for 22 parishes. More than 60,000 Louisianians lost their homes, including some 300 of our own employees.

Entergy was ready with a pre-disaster response plan already in place. We awarded a $100,000 grant to the Baton Rouge Food Bank immediately to help replace one million pounds of ruined food. We awarded $300,000 to the Baton Rouge Area Foundation to assist with longer-term recovery needs. Through our partnership with the American Red Cross, we authorized $150,000 to rapidly deploy emergency aid for flood victims, including:

• 46 emergency shelters operated.• 81,000 nights of shelter provided.• 587,000 meals served.• 670,000 snacks served.• 698,000 in clothing, shoes, medical supplies and more

basics.• 51,000 clean-up kits.• 19,000 received mental health services.• 21,000 received health services.

Entergy employees also raised funds to help their co-workers and customers, while logging more than 10,000 hours of volunteer service to those in need.

Entergy launches $5 million, 5-year workforce development initiative.

Entergy Corporation’s workforce development initiative focuses on two goals – that of helping create a competitive advantage in our region, while assisting our communities in their efforts to land expansion and/or relocation projects.

In 2016, we implemented a multi-state workforce development initiative that is focused on addressing workforce readiness and creating a competitive advantage in attracting new business and industry to communities served by Entergy.

A few examples of programs receiving grants this year:• Jobs for America’s Graduates. • Louisiana Economic Development FastStart.• Mississippi State University Student Technology

Exchange Program.• Operation Spark in New Orleans.• Lone Star Community College Promise Scholarship

Program in Conroe, Texas.• Arkansas Student Loan Forgiveness Program.

Jazzed about the Future:

Partnership Keeps the Music Alive.

2016 marked the 14th year of a partnership between Entergy and Jazz at Lincoln Center. Led by artistic director Wynton Marsalis, the center provides opportunities for students from kindergarten to high school and beyond to appreciate and perform jazz. Students attending WeBop classes are introduced to the fundamentals, while young virtuosos learn from master musicians while attending Swing University and performing with the Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band. Since 2002, we have awarded grants totaling more than $700,000 to New York City’s Jazz at Lincoln Center, helping to raise up the next generation of jazz stars.

2016, 156 employees and retirees supported and staffed 424 free Volunteer Income
