Curriculum Overview
Edgenuity’s MyPath intervention provides data-driven differentiated instruction in mathematics and reading, for
middle and high school students spanning skills and concepts from grade 3-11. MyPath is designed to meet
students at their learning level and give them exactly what they need to catch up, keep up, and get ahead.
Students are assigned to Individualized Learning Paths (ILPs) at their skill level, regardless of their grade level.
Middle schools and high schools have long received intervention materials that are not age appropriate and draw
unnecessary attention to the hindrances faced by struggling students. The lower-level content of MyPath was
designed with the interests of older learners in mind—respectful and engaging for struggling middle school and
high school students—so students can feel confident as they progress through the appropriate level of content to
meet their current needs.
Through assessments, ILPs, and detailed progress reports, MyPath provides students with age-appropriate online
lessons and gives educators the ability to monitor academic progress easily.
Edgenuity MyPath User Guide (continued)
Placement Assessment
The initial placement assessment determines the student’s individual learning levels from third to eleventh grade.
Based on the results, our learning management system recommends an Individualized Learning Path (ILP) that
provides high-interest, age-appropriate instruction for each student. The ILP specifically addresses the identified
skill gaps. Students are assigned relevant, student-specific course content creating ideal intervention material
based on each student’s assessment results.
Placement Assessment:
As an alternative, districts utilizing NWEA’s MAP assessment can import MAP data (RIT Score). The student’s
RIT Score is then used to recommend the Individualized Learning Path.
Individualized Learning Paths
Instructional content ranges from the third-grade skill level to the eleventh-grade skill level. Lower-level content
was designed with the interests of older learners in mind—respectful, engaging, and age appropriate for
struggling middle school and high school students.
Reading
The foundational reading paths focus on comprehension strategies, while the basic and intermediate reading
paths focus on reading comprehension and literary analysis with a strong emphasis on literary nonfiction and
informational texts. Grammar, mechanics, and writing are included as it relates to reading. Advanced paths
expose students to great literature and develop critical thinking skills.
Edgenuity MyPath User Guide (continued)
The content emphasizes the close reading of complex texts, especially literary nonfiction and includes
argumentative and explanatory writing, text-dependent tasks, and tools to allow students to annotate text as they
read.
Mathematics
Math ILPs focus on the critical path to and through Algebra I. Foundational paths build students’ number sense
with whole numbers and fractions. Basic paths emphasize foundational instruction building critical algebra
readiness skills. Intermediate math paths are designed to support students in Algebra to ensure success with a
balance of lesson concepts, procedures, and application. Advanced paths are the ones for students who have
been successful in Algebra and are ready to take on more advanced mathematics study.
Content emphasizes the application of mathematical thinking to real world issues and challenges, preparing
students to think and reason mathematically. The interactive content helps students develop a depth of
understanding with the ability to apply mathematics to real world situations. Modeling and the use of mathematics
and statistics to analyze empirical situations provide students the opportunity to problem solve and improve their
decision making process. Students engage in a variety of rich multimedia sources, simulations, and labs that
enhance learning and foster comprehension.
Instructional Content
Edgenuity provides its comprehensive, interactive curriculum in a virtual learning environment with a robust
learning management system. Supports and scaffolds within the online courseware let students control the pace

This new report helps instructors identify the lessons students are struggling with and identify which lessons and
activities are taking the most/least amount of time. The data will show how students are performing on lessons
that align to specific standards and help instructors identify clusters of students in the course for grouping.
The Lesson Mastery Report provides an at-a-glance view of how students are performing in all the lessons in a
course in order to identify and group students for re-teaching. For each lesson, educators can view how many
students are struggling with the lesson, how many are active in the lesson, and a number of other statistics. This
report can be filtered by standard, and it can be sorted by lesson difficulty or any other of the columns displayed.
Educators can drill into any lesson to view which students are struggling and/or active, with visibility into the
assessment questions and individual student responses for targeted, real-time intervention.

Research Supported Results
Edgenuity MyPath is a new product so data on student results will be collected to demonstrate its success. We
continue to partner with school districts and third-party research organizations to conduct evaluations that
measure results and drive success for all students.
Data from across the country shows that Edgenuity is helping students achieve academically in reading and math.
Research shows that students in our online courses are outperforming their peers and demonstrating content-
knowledge on standardized tests. Our courses are also helping to improve graduation rates.
Below are some samples of the results achieved by students using Edgenuity’s reading and math curriculum:
Edgenuity MyPath User Guide (continued)
Carpe Diem Collegiate High School (CDCHS), AZ: Carpe Diem Collegiate High School is a blended
secondary charter school. When 2012 AIMS HS Reading and Math Test data were examined from 34
students, results confirmed that tenth-grade CDCHS students’ scores outpaced the state average for
Arizona schools. Data revealed that 11 percent more CDCHS tenth graders passed the AIMS HS
Reading and Math Tests than their state peers.
Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS), VA: In summer 2012, LCPS offered Edgenuity courses as
part of its summer school program. Results from 128 high school students indicated that LCPS students
using Edgenuity courses outperformed their state peers on the 2012 Virginia End-of-Course Tests.
Rio Rancho Cyber Academy (RRCA), NM: RRCA blends Edgenuity courses with face-to-face
instruction. Results from the 2012 New Mexico Standards Based Assessment confirmed that the 130
sixth-, seventh-, eighth-, tenth-, and eleventh-grade students enrolled in Edgenuity courses outpaced their
peers.
Edgenuity MyPath User Guide (continued)
Credit Recovery
Gainesville High School (GHS), GA: Since the implementation of Edgenuity credit recovery courses,
GHS improved its graduation rate by 17 percent. The increase in graduation rates for GHS students was
greater than the state graduation rate.
Higley Learning Center (HLC), AZ: HLC is a nontraditional, alternative educational program using
Edgenuity curriculum as part of its credit recovery program. HLC serves a diverse array of at-risk middle
and high school students. While the majority are eleventh- and twelfth-grade students looking to recover
credits and get back on track for graduation, HLC also enrolls pregnant and homeschooled students as
well as students with behavioral and disciplinary problems. Data indicate that of the 59 high school
students enrolled in Edgenuity courses during the 2011–2012 school year, 87 percent of HLC students
completed their classes with passing rates. Results from the 2012 Arizona’s Instrument to Measure
Standards High School (AIMS HS) Writing, Reading, and Math Tests confirmed that HLC students
outperformed their state peers.
Edgenuity MyPath User Guide (continued)
Lufkin High School (LHS), TX: LHS combines Edgenuity’s online core and elective courses with face-to-
face instruction in brick-and-mortar computer labs. Spring 2012 data from the Texas Assessment of
Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) Mathematics Test were obtained from 30 LHS Edgenuity tenth-grade
students who did not pass the spring 2011 TAKS Math Test. Results revealed that the percentage of
these students passing the TAKS Math Test more than doubled from 2011 to 2012—from 33 percent to
80 percent proficient.
