BOYS’ DIVISION NEWS (A quarterly news bulletin of YMCA BOYS DIVISION, Tirupattur)
APRIL - JUNE 2013 (For Private Circulation only)
Vol. II No.2
This quarterly bulletin is delayed because of various factors like
Annual School Examinations, Vacation Bible School and the road
accident met by our Executive Secretary in May 2013.
INAUGURATION OF THE DORMITORY
The newly constructed dormitory facility at our Camp Center –
GOLDEN JUBILEE BUILDING - which can accommodate about 75
persons was inaugurated on the 24th
April 2013. The CSI Bishop in
Vellore, Rt.Rev.Dr.A.Rajavelu graced the occasion by his presence and
blessed the new facility.
The new facility is constructed by demolishing the old building
which was bought from Mr. P. A.Walker along with the lands, by Mr.
Frank C. Brown, the founder secretary of the YMCA Boys’ Division,
Tirupattur on the 6th
March 1963.
The building has a carpet area of about 2000 sq. ft. and houses
the Camp Office, a store room, a bigger hall which can accommodate
about 50 persons and a smaller hall for about 25 persons. The building
is designed to have at least two more floors and a semi-permanent hall
at the terrace.
A view of the new facility
We started the construction in the first week of September 2012 and
planned to complete it by January 2013. But due to the intermittent
rains and non-availability of construction materials like river sand we
could not succeed in our plans. However, the delay resulted in better
planning and a few additional features to the building which will help
us in our plans for future expansion.
We are proud to say that the entire project cost was funded
from our own internal surplus generated from our Camp Centre
operations with the active participation and the cooperation of our
secretaries, staff at the Camp Center at Yelagiri and at Boys’
Division, Tirupattur.
Rev. Menon, presbyter-in-charge of CSI Church Walajapet (second from left)

The building dedication prayer meeting started with the
opening prayer by Rev. Andrew Annamalai, presbyter-in-charge
of CSI Christ Church, Tirupattur. The Chairman of YMCA
Tirupattur-Yelagiri Project, Mr. David Livingstone welcomed the
gathering. The Executive Secretary Mr. V. Yesudhas gave a brief
history of the Camp Centre.
CSI Bishop in Vellore Rt..Rev.Dr.A.Rajavelu blessed and
opened the building. Leaders and pastors have lighted the
‘Kuthuvillakku’ to mark the dedication of the building for the use
of the campers. The stone tablet declaring the inauguration was
opened by Rev. Menon. Mr. Danial Ravikumar, Regional
Secretary, Southern Region of YMCAs felicitated.
The Bishop gave a sweet sermon on the importance of using
the facilities for the glory of God who is the giver of all blessings.
After the vote of thanks rendered by the Camp Secretary Mr.
George Prince, the meeting came to a close with the closing prayer
and benediction by the Bishop – followed by a ‘love feast lunch.’

very soul searching message, how the Christian
workers can bring a metamorphic and paradigm
change in the betterment and the functioning of
the Church.
After lunch, the interactive session was led
by Bro. D.Vincent, Convener of our Religious
Committee and the meeting came to an end at 5
p.m. About 125 persons attended the meeting. Vacation bible school
As in the past the Vacation Bible School was
conducted in the second week of May 2013. We
were compelled to engage the services of more
personnel as the response from the parents and
students was very high.
Nearly 250 students participated and
benefited. Books and other training materials
were distributed to all. Snacks on all days and
‘love feast lunch’ on the final day were provided
to the participants.
A special team led by Bro Caleb, Children
Mission India, East Tambaram conducted the
