Atwood Lake is located in Carroll andTuscarawas counties in Ohio, between New

Philadelphia and Carrollton, and isaccessible by I-77 and St. Rt. 212.

History:Atwood Dam was constructed in 1937 on

Indian Fork Creek for the purpose of flood control.The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD)owns the lake and surrounding land, and is responsiblefor managing conservation and recreational activities.

The dam is owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).Stats:

Boat Launching:Two public boat launch ramps are located on

Atwood Lake at Marina East and near the dam off St. Rt. 212.Fishing:

Atwood Lake is home to bluegill, bullheads, channel catfish,crappie, largemouth bass, northern pike, saugeye, and

yellow perch.Hunting:

Hunting and trapping on MWCD land isregulated by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources,Division of Wildlife, which issues a publication detailing

Ohio hunting and trapping regulations. To request this publication,please contact the Division of Wildlife or pick one up at the

MWCD main office in New Philadelphia. In the interestof safety, hunting on MWCD land is prohibited within 500 feet
