Mr. Skillin was head of the State Chamber of Commerce trom 1939 to 19411 when he re.stgned because of ill health. He had been a practicing attorney here llnce 1909.

lin, 93, a resident of the Maine Veteran's Home in Scarborough, die4 April 28, 1991 at a Portland h "tal. }C was born in Hallowell, the son
of Dana C. and Sarah (Grinnell) Skillin and graduated from Hal-lowell High School in 1916. He attended Bowdoin College.
Mr. Skillin was employed as a warehouse superintendent for 36 years with Cressy and Alkn and with Commercial Distributors, retiring in 1962.
He was an Army veteran of World War I.
A life member of the Kennebec Lodge tiS in Hallowell, Mr. Skillin was also a member of Mount Sinai and Greenleaf Chapter, past com-mander of Saint Alban Comman-dery, and a member of the Central Square Baptist Church. Mr. Skillin was married to Almeda J. (Richards) Skillin, who died in 1983. He was also predeceased by a daughter, babel C. McKown.
He is survived by three sons, Charles A. Skillin Jr. of Machias, Richard E. Skillin of South Portland and Robert G. Skillin of Scar-borough; 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great -grandchildren.

GUILFORD - Keith S. Skillin 70, husband of Corabelle (Fairbrother) Skillin, died unexpectedly Sept. 2, 1988, at a Dover-.FoxcrOft hospital
He was born in Guilf~ May 20, uU; son of Henry and Allee <Stewa:.1) Skillin.
He was currently employed as general manager of Gil Wood Products Co. of Brownville. He and his wife had previously operated Yoke Pond Camps for 32 years.
He had been manager for Dead River Limited in Boistown, New Brunswick, for several years and was a former wood buyer for Hardwood Products and Pride's Manufacturing, both located in Guilford. ,
In his earlier years, he was employed in the shipyards of Bath and South Portland. He had served as a forest ranger at Russell Mountain and was also a former game warden for the state of Maine.
He was a member of Mt. Kineo Masonic Lodge No. 109 of Gulford. Besides his wife, Corabelle of Gulford, he is survived by one son, John Marcus •Skillin of Cambridae; one da1J8hter,
Leaon Ivy Skillin of Guilford; one brother, Lawrence Skillin of Rockport· one sister, Ivy Pinnette of Augusta· two grandchildren, several nieces ' and nephews.
Masonic memorial services was con-ducted Saturday, Sept. 3 .. Funeral ser-vices were held Sunday at Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, with the. Rev. Cleon Ross of St. Augustine's Ep1scopal Church, officiating. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery, Gulford. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Shrine Children's Burn Center, 51 Blossom St., Boston, Mass.

ROCKPORT - Lawrence A. "Mutt" Skillin, 83, died Tuesday at Penobscot Bay Medical Center.
Born in Guilford, SOD of Henry P. and Alice M. Stewart Skillin. be attended schools there and was a 1932 graduate of Guilford High School
On Nov. 20, 1937, be manied Ruth Grant in Bangor. Mr. Skillin began worldng as a machinist with
Intemalional Paper Company in Jay. Later he was employed as a machinists' foreman for United American Soda Fountain Co. in WalerWwn, :>.lass. He then joined Stone It Webster Co. as millwrigbt Leadman, then went v.ilh Great Northern Papaer Co. in Millinocket, retiring as millwrighVmaster journeyman in April of 197&.
Mr. Skillin worl<ed on the first operational radar unit in Dexter during World Warn. While in Massachusetts, be was irmllwd with tbe constructioll ~ tbe first nuclear submarine, the USS Nautilus.
In the 1930s be was a member ol the Civilian Conservation Corps' !60th Company in Greenville.
Mr. Skillin was a member of the Penobsrot Masoolc Lodge in Dexter and the Rockport Booster Club. He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
SurvMDg, besides bis wife, are a daughter, Gwendolyn Skillin Atwood of Rockport; three grandchildren, Joel T. Atwood Jr. or Redmond, Wasb, Michelle Atwood Robil-lard of Lonon, Va, and Jessica Atwood Donnell of Fairbanks, Alaska; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Alben ma•Tied Mary Elizobeth (Betty) Blako on May 9, 1942, an wu married for 54 yesra until her death Jan. I 0, 1996. Mr. Skill ing served during World War U in the Philippines and Japan in the Anny Rangers as a Staff Sergeant. Aflor the war, he was employed by Thomas Laughlin Co. (later on known u the Crosby Group Laughlin Plant-}i o Portland for 44 yoors retiring as SuJ>'!rintendern in 1986. While working for Thomas Laugl•lin, Mr. Skilling operated an Electrfcal Business in Gray Nigbts and Weekonda. Many electricians today started working for AJ and learned the basics from him. On June 28, 1998 he married Bea Davis, they had many fun times traveling and at family functions. He was well received by her family and her two sons. Terry Davis of Scarborough and Alan Dsvis of Florida, Bea died Nov. 29, 2000. He was born Sept. 25, 1889 at Peaks Island, the son of Luther E. and Mary C. Skillings. He was a graduate of Portland High School and for several years worked as a fireman tor

During World War ll he was a second lieutenant in the CAP 1n Portland. He held a private pilot's license and flew many patrols from Cape May to East-port. He logged more than 750 house of over water flying and was awarded a citation by the Air Force.
Mr. Skillings spent his sum-mers here since his retirement and with his sons and families ln Cuba and Puxico, Mo. dur-ing the winters.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Bertha. Skillings; two sons, Dr. V. H. Skillings of Puxico and Dr. F. B. Skillings of CUba, Mo.: one brother. E. C. Skllllngs of Montreal; · a. half-sister, Mrs.

HOLLIS - Elmer A Skillings Jr., 69, of Plains Road died Aug. 10, 2000, at his home after a long illness.
He wa.s born in Sebago, a son of Elmer and Gwendolyn Sawyer Skillings, and attended Sebago and Brunswick schools. He also attended the Ohfo School of Trade, spe-cializing in automotive repair.
Mr. Skillings served for four years with the Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in both En-gland and Germany.
He III81Tied Betty Mosley Skillings on Sepl19, 1964. He worked several years at Milliken Tomlinson Co. in
Portland and retired from the Maine Department of Transportation, where he worked many years as a me-chanic. Also, he operated a small-engine repair shop from his home.
He served for 14 year as code enforcement officer in Hollis.
He was a member of the Cwnberland Masonic Lodge in New Gloucester and attended the West Buxton Free Will Baptist Church.
He was a hunter and a fishennan. Surviving are his wife; a son, Eric of Westbrook; three
daughters, Tanuny Foster of Hiram, Betty Heatley of Wheeling, m, and Mary-Ellen Souliere of Phoenix; a brother, ·Frank of New Gloucester; and five grandchil-dren. , .. 'r ~.

• Henry A. Skillings Henry A. Skillings, 67, an em-
ployee of the city 33 years and retired superintendent of City Hall, died suddenly of heart dis· ease in a Portland hospital late Friday afternoon.
Mr. Skillings, who was known to his many friends and asso-ciates as "Bert," was stricken ill in his home, 496 Cottage Road, i South Portland, where he had lived since 1944.
A Portland native, he was born Dec. 22, 1882, the son of George H. and Carrie Phillips Skillings. He attended public schools here and was graduated from Portland High School and Gray's Business College.
After his retirement from city employ in December, 1948, he was named agent of the Masonic Trustees of Masonic Temple.
Mr . Skillings began his lone service with the city in February, 1913, when he was appointed chief engineer of the city building.
He served in•that position untn 1916 when he left to join the . s. Shipping Board as marine
engineer, a position he held 1920. He then ·resumed his with the .city as engineer fire department until 1924, he was transferred back to Hall as chief engineer.
Mr. Skillings was appointed :rintendent of the city build-and Boothby Baths in 1937.
