How do Beacons work?

Beacon is a small wireless device transmitting a continuous radio signal.

The signal is detected by nearby smart devices via Bluetooth SmartTM.

Smart devices receives the ID number of a beacon in range and sends that number to the cloud server.

The server checks what action is assigned to that ID number and responds.

What could thatresponse be?That’s up to you.

An example:You are walking by a store and see a nice pair of sneakers. You really like them but would ratherwant them in blue.

There is a Beacon placed next to the sneakers. Your smartphone receives the information that sneakers in blue are available to purchase in the store’s online section. Additionally if you purchase them today you will geta discount of 20%.

You make a purchase inthe application.

You walk away happy with exactly what you want, exactly when you wanted it.

Bluetooth Beacon

Tough Beacon is tough for real world use

When you want to use your beacons in outdoor, exposed situations, you need something

tougher than the usual beacon. Something that can stand up to bumps and knocks, rain

and sun, and that’s tough to remove while as reliable as our regular Smart Beacon. When

you think outdoors proximity, think Tough Beacon.

One API to rule them all

Cloud Beacons are constantly reporting all the events and data to the Kontakt.io Cloud which is a single point of any further integrations via robust RESTful API
