Internet of Things

The Internet of Things (“IoT” for short) is a term for a variety of technologies that describe a number of different ways to connect physical things to the internet. Proximity is among the most prominent of those technologies. As a result, any item can become smart and context-aware, provide highly personalized experiences and gather extensive data about what’s

happening in the real world.

Proximity

Proximity makes objects and devices context-aware, so they can provide highly personalized experiences. By adding another layer of contextual information to IoT-enabled objects, you empower them to serve you and your needs at the right place

and the right time.

Beacons

A beacon is a small Bluetooth radio transmitter. It’s like a lighthouse- it repeatedly transmits a single signal that other devices can see.

Intro to Beacons & IoT

Depending on how close both devices are, a smartphone can perform different actions. It can update an indoor map with your location, open a lock,or even change the music in your house as you walk from room to room. Companies and brands around the world love beacons because they open up completely new ways to reach out to customers, engage them and drive sales. So do we.

The signal is detected by nearby smart devices via Bluetooth Smart™.

A Beacon is a small, wireless device which transmitsa continuous radio signal.

The signal tells your smart device “I’m Here” by giving its ID number.

Your smart device thensends that ID number to the cloud server.

The server checks what Action is assigned to that ID number & responds.

The Kontakt.io Vision

Meet the Pillars of Beacon Infrastructure:

Hardware We manufacture smart hardware—beacons and other devices that allow our clinets to build their infrastructure at any scale.

Software

Thanks to our software stack, our customers can develop their solutions in a fast, easy, and secure manner and then manage and monitor their infrastructure with our ready-to-use tools.

Services

We handle hardware installation and maintenance for customers globally so they can focus on the things that matter to them most.

Expertise

Nobody knows hardware, software and solutions better than we do. We share this knowledge with customers by showcasing beacon solutions and our best-in-class customer service.

Carrefour gains 600% more app users by enabling proximity

After two years of using mobile apps, Carrefour, the $20B+ multinational retailer, enriched one of them with proximity. Beacons deployed at the store welcomed shoppers as they entered, displayed coupons and suggested products based on customer purchase histories. After seven months,

earliest decision-making stages, through providing hardware and software tools and all the way up to offering deployment and maintenance services.

Carrefour observed that the number of app downloads increased by 600% and that users spent 400% more time in the app.

Volkswagen drives customers to purchase Auto Ganza, an official Volkswagen dealer in Moscow, deployed beacons at its showroom to help its visitors freely explore cars and their capabilities. Now, when a prospect approaches a model, a dedicated beacon-enabled app, developed by iBecom, triggers information about its cost, technical specifications and available colors. If customers, want to know more, they can schedule a test drive—right

from the app.

FC Porto App Gets The Beacon Rolling! FC Porto, one of the most famous football teams in Europe, has deployed beacons to help achieve its e nterprising goal- to become the most technologically advanced football club in the world. At first glance football and beacons might seem unlikely comrades but when we heard that their mobile app achieved an astonishing 150,000 downloads in the first few months, we couldn’t wait to find

out more.

Mobile

World Congress boosts its app

engagement 235%

People attending Mobile World Congress 2015 could enjoy a

conference app enriched with proximity by MOCA. Beacons enabled seamless ticketing and mobile check-ins at main entrances, proximity-aware notifications about exhibitors and information at transportation point as users left the venue. As a result, 47% of mobile users interacted with the app at the venue.

The Philadelphia Museum of Arts connects families and works of art

Every summer, the Philadelphia Museum of Arts organizes Art Splash, a special program of events and activities dedicated to families. In 2015, the museum launched a beacon-enabled “A is for Art Museum” app to help visitors explore its exhibitions in an entertaining and child-friendly way. The app, installed on museum’s iPads, challenged families to find twenty-six works of art throughout the museum matched with the letters of the alphabet. Beacons provide a way-finding tool and trigger content at these exhibits, such as additional information, audio, video and real-world games to play with the whole family.

technology like iBeacon, Eddystone and more into our smart hardware system and we continue to push the borders of what’s possible with bluetooth proximity devices. Take a look at the most important dates in our history!

10

June 2013

Bluetooth 4.0 and iBeacon join the game

iBeacon profile solves a lot of the pain points in our home-built solution, so we reverse-engineer the format and get it running on our hardware. Soon after, we launch a pre-order of development kits, becoming a part of emerging beacosystem. August 2013

First beacons shipping

We ship the first run of pre-ordered beacons to our clients. Initially held together with glue and good intentions, we quickly develop a better system and replace all old devices in the field.

July 2014

$2 million funding

We closes an investment round with Sunstone Capital, a top European venture capital firm. Being backed up by a partner who shares our limitless ambition, we’re ready to conquer the world. We ship thousands of customized beacons worldwide with the shortest lead times in the industry.

August 2014

Cloud Beacon premiere

We see the future of Internet of Things tied strongly to the cloud. To make that happen, we introduce pre-orders for Cloud Beacon. By providing security and monitoring features without an application installed in a smart device, it takes proximity to the next level.

February 2015

Outdoor awaits!

We introduce the Tough Beacon, a new piece of hardware designed for outdoor and demanding conditions.

11

July 2015

Eddystone roll-out

Google launches Eddystone, an iBeacon’s competitor and we’re one of the very few companies that is involved in the project from the beginning. A few days later, we start shipping the first beacons with Eddystone support.

March 2015

Kontakt.io, Inc. launches

We become an American company! With offices in San Francisco and New York, we continue plans to dominate the US with quality proximity smart hardware.

February 2016

A brand new image

We announce a $5 million USD Series B round led by Credo Ventures and rebrand the company. With a new logo and a new website that perfectly reflects what Kontakt.io is, we pave the way for more products, more innovation, and more greatness to come.

Kontakt.io was originally founded to help the visually impaired easily navigate public spaces and experience the world in a better way.

Beacons for Good

While Kontakt.io has changed a lot since that time, our belief that IoT can solve real-world problems hasn’t. That initial goal - to make the world a better place - still lies at the core of the company and drives our efforts at Beacons For Good (BeaconsForGood.org).

Beacons for Good is our non-profit initiative designed to help charities

roll out their own proximity-based projects to help people in need. Every month Kontakt.io donates free beacons to charities that have great ideas and a great plan to make a difference with beacons.
