Detective Ford Update
Detective Ford with the Smithville Police Department introduced herself and relayed the following important information for our subdivision. She advised there is a system online called RAIDS on Line. It’s a map of our neighborhood to see what crimes are occurring and what’s happened over the past year. She reported that for the Stonebridge subdivision, we’ve arrested two people for warrants, one theft which is remarkable considering all the thefts for others that we’ve been going through over the past three months. We had one domestic disturbance – that means only one couple decided to fight last year. We’ve had one car accident.
She also advised that recently in the northland there have been home invasions happening. They’re look for guns and pills in cars. She advised us to please, please lock your doors to your vehicle and lower your garage doors at all times. These are just really preventable crimes and it’s really gotten bad in the northland. Detective Ford stated no one wants to admit that it’s happening in Smithville and Kearney. She is inundated with cases right now due to theft and it’s basically people doing drugs and they want to take advantage of areas like Smithville and Kearny and remote areas that they know people are hardworking, got nice things and they want to try to take advantage of that.
Detective Ford stated Smithville ranks 8th in crime and since we border Kansas City the crime is coming our direction. We are the corridor to St. Joseph and they go through either 169 or 29. The arrests and calls for service are at record highs right now in Smithville. She indicated to take advantage of the Smithville Police Department on Facebook and their Dispatch number is 816.858.3521. Chief Walker has his page at Smithville Police Department. Detective Ford has one for the Investigations Unit. Feel free to follow that or like that page. She shares everything that’s going on right now in Smithville. If there is any activity, they announce it on Facebook and Twitter.

There is also utilizes “Text A Tip: “64089 + your tip” to CRIMES (274637). The tip must start with 64089. Detective Ford on behalf of the Smithville Police Department because they are Animal Control too thanked us for not letting our dogs roam. She also asked that we call if we see anything suspicious in our neighborhood.
