Trinitarian Bible Society

s we bring this report of the activi-ties of the Wessex Auxiliary, we

do so once again with thankful-ness to the Lord for His goodness to us inopening new doors across the region.

We continue to find a regular demand forBibles amongst the prison population, and have in the last few months distrib-uted over 500 Bibles into five different in-stitutions. Encouragingly, these copies ofthe Word of God and calendars were in28 different languages. is reflects thefact that the population of our prisons isgradually changing, enabling the Auxil-iary to distribute Scriptures in a widerrange of languages.

One of the places where this is most evi-dent is within Immigration RemovalCentres. e Auxiliary has two of thesewithin the region, one at Oxford and theother near Colnbrook. Towards the endof last year and again in recent months,Campsfield House at Oxford have re-quested Bibles, New Testaments, Gospelsand calendars in Afrikaans, Albanian,Arabic, Armenian, Catalan, Chinese,Dutch, Farsi, French, German, Greek,Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Lithuanian,

Maltese, Maori, Mongolian, Ndebele, Pol-ish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian,Shona, Spanish, Turkish, Ukrainian andUrdu. ese centres hold many needypeople, who are perhaps disorientatedand agitated, unsure of what will happento them next. Many have fled their homecountries, from whence they have lewith nothing. If they are Christians theywill oen have le without a Bible, sothey are very thankful when they receiveone free of charge to take with themwherever they go next. e average stayis only 35 days; 60% return to their coun-try of origin and 40% are released into thecommunity. Our hearts go out to thesesouls who have come from desperate sit-uations, but it is our privilege to providethem with a copy of the “holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise untosalvation through faith which is in ChristJesus” (2 Timothy 3.15).

We would seek your prayers that theWord going forth might, by the work ofthe Holy Spirit, bear fruit unto eternal lifein such as shall be saved. “e entranceof thy words giveth light” (Psalm119.130). May the Lord bless His Word toneedy souls.
