Wessex Auxiliary 2017 Newsletter Trinitarian Bible Society s we bring this report of the activi- ties of the Wessex Auxiliary, we do so once again with thankful- ness to the Lord for His goodness to us in opening new doors across the region. We continue to find a regular demand for Bibles amongst the prison population, and have in the last few months distrib- uted over 500 Bibles into five different in- stitutions. Encouragingly, these copies of the Word of God and calendars were in 28 different languages. is reflects the fact that the population of our prisons is gradually changing, enabling the Auxil- iary to distribute Scriptures in a wider range of languages. One of the places where this is most evi- dent is within Immigration Removal Centres. e Auxiliary has two of these within the region, one at Oxford and the other near Colnbrook. Towards the end of last year and again in recent months, Campsfield House at Oxford have re- quested Bibles, New Testaments, Gospels and calendars in Afrikaans, Albanian, Arabic, Armenian, Catalan, Chinese, Dutch, Farsi, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Maori, Mongolian, Ndebele, Pol- ish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Shona, Spanish, Turkish, Ukrainian and Urdu. ese centres hold many needy people, who are perhaps disorientated and agitated, unsure of what will happen to them next. Many have fled their home countries, from whence they have le with nothing. If they are Christians they will oen have le without a Bible, so they are very thankful when they receive one free of charge to take with them wherever they go next. e average stay is only 35 days; 60% return to their coun- try of origin and 40% are released into the community. Our hearts go out to these souls who have come from desperate sit- uations, but it is our privilege to provide them with a copy of the “holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3.15). We would seek your prayers that the Word going forth might, by the work of the Holy Spirit, bear fruit unto eternal life in such as shall be saved. “e entrance of thy words giveth light” (Psalm 119.130). May the Lord bless His Word to needy souls. No. 5 NEWS SUMMARY FORTHCOMING EVENTS (DV) Wessex Prayer Meeting – Monday 26th June 7.15pm at Old Baptist Chapel, Chippenham, Wiltshire.
