HOW TO TRAIN The name of each movie will be presented in its logotype. The name of the studio and the year of release will be Futura bold.
The main characters will be represented using a stylised vector illustration. The key object from each movie will also be presented as a vector image.
Could also show the name of the characters in the genetic font.
SECONDARY VISUALS
Clean vectors, graphic shapes and interesting textures are what have inspired the look for my into. I wanted to use a method that would represent the films well, but have a different aesthetic to the 3D render.
I have been heavily influenced by the concept art of films such as the Incredibles, which use a very angular, simple ‘saul bass’ aesthetic.
The weapons cut scenes from Ratchet and Clank use the kind of movement and visuals I am aiming for, the representations of the characters are quite detailed, but they actually have very minimal movement so the sequence is less complicated than it appears, most of the movement comes from other elements that can be distorted with more ease - flashes from lazers and other shapeless objects. When the characters move, it is as a whole static object moving in the frame, rather than as an animation.
VISUAL CONTENT
eT
Simplified vector illustrations of each of the main characters. These will be used as static elements and will have minimal movement - not going to be fully animated.
These will be combined with very simple backgrounds that reflect each movie using appropriate colour pallets and illustrate the movie further with simplified graphics of key objects from each film.
Top ten logo made from the logos of the films.
VISUAL CONCEPT
8 Main colours from each film
Some texture overlay combined with clean vectors.
MAIN TYPEFACE: Futura bold/extra boldUsed in the advertising of most of my top 10 selection. Also used for the Logo of Monsters, Inc. Bold, easy to read and should stand out against the visual material.
