The votaries of Masonry in Pitt
county never experienced a more en- joyable day nor a day tilled with more Interest and instruction in the prin- ciples of tl.c order than 111 the great gathering at Ayden on Thursday, the lath. Every one of the ten lodges in the county was largely represented, mi! several from neighboring counties were present, swelling the attendance to above two hundred and lifty.
The occasion was the organization Of a fifth district meeting composed of all the lodges in Pitt county, and this was the first annual sesion. Through the leadership of District Deputy Grand Master John 11. Cheek end his excellent co-workers In Ayden lodge, the arrangements for the dis- trict "meeting had been well planned and were carried out admirably.
The Masons assembled In Aydon's splendid temple promptly at 10 o'clock ami after the formal opening there was an address of welcome by Mr. David a. Ilollowell. of Ayden, and re- sponse by Judge F M. Wooten. of Greenville. Then there wore briel speeches on various topics of Inter- est to the fraternity, and the mornlnts BBoslon closed with a question box con- ducted by Worshipful Master H. E. Austin, of Sharon lodge. Greenville.
