The University of Maryland administers and hosts the Mid-
Atlantic Crossroads (MAX) network. MAX is the Internet2
gigaPoP for the mid-Atlantic region of the United States.

Next Generation Internet Exchange (NGIX)
The University of Maryland provides one of the three Next Generation Internet Exchanges (NGIX) for the federal research networks. This exchange connects the national research labs in the Greater Washington region to the University of Maryland over direct fiber-optic links-- enabling joint research and development partnerships.
