Project Idea: Producing a storybook for the school library for grade 2 level readers.
Driving Question: Based on our study of grade 2 level storybooks, can your group (of 4)
produce a children’s storybook for seven year olds?
Content Standards: LA – reading, writing, spelling/grammar
Art – colouring, collage-making
IT – image search (Google), word processing (Word), page layout (Word),
photography (digital camera).

Major Products: Group -peer editing,
(formative -group story draft after consulting on individual stories,
assessment rubrics) - final story,
-rough mock booklet,
-typing and final page layout.
Individual – deconstructing a grade 2 story (worksheet) We used Bernstein
Bears stories to study character, a problem, humorous events
arising, and the solution,
-individual story drafts. Each student produces a rough plot to
present to their group.
-peer editing,
-feedback notes when piloting on some grade 2 students,
-final reflection.
Audience: Grade 2 classes, presentation to parents in the library.
