Continuing our Lenten Journey We are in the last two weeks before Easter. Has Lent been fruitful for you so far? Whether it has or not, these last two weeks are a time to renew our Lenten resolutions and make the most of this season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. The best Easter celebrations are those which come after a Lent that has been observed well. It’s not too late to take up (or increase) some Lenten practices: weekday Mass, Friday Stations of the Cross, or some other extra prayer; some regular practice of penance; and works of charity. One of the Prefaces for the season of Lent addresses these words to God: “You will that our self-denial should give you thanks, humble our sinful pride, contribute to the feeding of the poor, and so help us imitate you in your kindness.” We are called to imitate God himself! In Jesus Christ, we have a perfect Lenten model to imitate. He was frequently in prayer, he fasted for 40 days in the desert, and he poured himself out for others. Let’s imitate him through our practice of Lent, so that we may imitate him on Easter: rising above sin and sadness, to arrive at grace and joy. Gratefully yours, Fr. Philip
. ”¡Estamos llamados a imitar a Dios mismo!

LAMENTATIONS A Contemporary Prayer Service on the Passion of Jesus
TUESDAY APRIL 16 (not on Good Friday this year) at 7:00 p.m. in the Church
What are Lamentations? A lamentation is a human response to pain, a crying out to God in faith until help arrives. Lamentations are found throughout Scripture and are focused on human suffering and injustice as a continuation of Christ’s suffering. Why should we pray Lamentations? We come together to lament with anyone who is suffering from pain or loss, anyone who stands with others who are suffering, anyone who feels the pain and suffering of the world. What do we gain from praying Lamentations? Our purest response is hope, love and compassion which in turn empower us to be agents of change for Christ in the transformation of the world. Who should participate? What will the prayer service be like? This will be a truly memorable evening, full of music, readings, images and places for adults and mature teens to weep over the injustices and absurdities of life. Anyone who is grieving or hurting from losses here at the parish, in personal life challenges, or simply desires to become closer to Christ should be sure to come. (Please do not bring young children).

1. Reminder that if you have owned your stock for 1 year or more you can gift it to the church without any tax liability. Contact your broker or Tom Leeman at the Parish Business Office for more information at (949) 429-2874 or [email protected] 2. Turn Your TAXABLE RMD (Required Minimum Distributions) into Charitable Donations.
IRS rules mandate that individuals age 70 1/2 and older take RMDs from their IRA each year, regardless of whether the income is needed. These annual withdrawals are subject to ordinary income taxes. By making a charitable contribution from your IRA, you can satisfy your RMD amount without reporting additional income.
Another way to donate to the Capital Campaign!
