EAGLE
CZECH or Cerritos?
Dear Friends and Supporters of SMCHS Lacrosse:
Let me begin by thanking you for attending this SMCHS Lacrosse Game! Your attendance here is a visible sign of support for a program which is in a relatively short period of time has accomplished many spectacular achievements.
I would like to express my deepest thanks to all the parents who have spent so many hours helping to make sure that our student athletes have the best possible lacrosse program. To our coaching staff, thank you for your time, energy, and the leadership that you invest in the SM Lacrosse program. Finally, I salute our players! Each of you play a physically demanding sport while, at the same time, keeping up with a very demanding academic schedule! Best of luck to you in this 2012 season!
All of the groups I’ve mentioned are responsible for our lacrosse program but we must never forget to acknowledge the One who is the inspiration and the true director, our Lord Jesus Christ. He gives the players skills, the coaches, patience and wisdom, and He nourishes love in the parents which is demonstrated by their support of their sons and daughters. May we all live the charism of our school, Caritas Christi…the love of Christ, as a way of thanking Our Lord for all these blessings. St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, pray for us.
Thank you for continuing to prove that each and every day is a GREAT DAY to be an EAGLE!
In Caritas Christi,Ray Dunne Principal
Dear Eagle Families and Friends of Eagle Lacrosse It used to be that if you said “I grew up playing lacrosse.” you were not from around these parts. How refreshing to now have entering fresh-men boys and girls that have played the sport for five or more years and immediately challenge our upper-classmen for playing time. Equally exciting is seeing top young coaches migrate from dominating East Coast programs to help develop the California high school lacrosse program. Our Santa Margarita Eagles perform at the top level demonstrating ath-letic prowess and dedication to a sport they love. They know to compete they must excel and to excel their personal foundation must be grounded in teamwork, respect, and self-discipline. Furthermore, before they take that first step onto the field they must have achieved the high academic standards we expect from our students. Excellence is not an accident; it is one point of evidence that a catholic college preparatory high school has made a difference in the life of a student-athlete. As the season unfolds, let us celebrate the hard work of our coaches and students and commend the support of our families. Our goals are unified and our hearts are strong. May our Lord keep our team healthy and our competitors safe. Sincerely,
Richard Schaaf, Athletic Director
Vince Garcia, Director of Lacrosse
Welcome to the 2012 Eagles Lacrosse Season. Santa Margarita’s reputation for its high standards and excellence in academics attracts the athletes that we have in our program this year. Many of the athletes have started this season with a good foundation of skills and knowledge of the game of lacrosse. The teams this year are full of athletes with high academic and moral standards. I know us as teachers, administrators, and coaches are lucky to have these athletes come to our school. I strongly believe these individuals are the people they are because of parents who have raised them. I feel very fortunate to be the AD here at Santa Margarita Catholic High School. It is an honor to be associated with such high quality athletes and their parents. I thank you for this.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Head Coaches Brad Reppert and Artemis Spruill. We are lucky to have Vince Garcia as the Lacrosse Director and I thank him for all his time and effort. I would like to thank Doug Williams, Assistant AD, who is always available and an asset to the Athletic Office. Thanks also to my Administrative Assistant, Pam Moen, who does a tremendous job of keeping the office running efficiently, especially during the season.
Good luck to all teams, May God Bless
I am looking forward to another great season of Boys and Girls Lacrosse. This year I would like to congratulate Brad Reppert on becoming the new Head Coach for the Boys Lacrosse Program. Brad has contributed so much to the lacrosse program over the past few years and I am looking forward to the additional growth and develop-ment of the program under his leadership. I would also like to welcome Artemis (Artie) Spruill, the new Head Coach of the Girls Lacrosse Program. I am excited to have Artie here and I know that our girls program will continue to grow under her direction.
I would also like to acknowledge our incredible coaching staff. For the boys pro-gram we welcome back Richard Zoerner (Coach Z) and we welcome Jordan Lievois and Cory Thomson. Jordan and Cory are former graduates from SMCHS that have returned to help with the boys lacrosse program. For the girls program we welcome back Lara Prendergast. Lara is taking on the new responsibility of the Head JV Coach position. We are excited to have Lara returning to the program.
I am happy to be a part of such a dynamic and exciting program. Each student athlete has the opportunity to excel on the field and in the classroon. The academic experience at Santa Margarita Catholic High School is second to none in my opinion and each of our athletes has such a great opportunity both on and off the field.
I wish all the seniors luck in their final season of lacrosse at SMCHS and wish them the best as they embark on a new journey at the end of the school year.
GO EAGLES!
