SQA has a lengthy history of successfully developing and offering HND qualifications
HNDs are well respected in Scotland (and UK) with increasing recognition
Recognised as giving candidates the necessary skills and knowledge to allow them to progress onto Higher Education or employment
HND subject content reflects the appropriate sector

Full review of HNDs being launched April 2013 for use in centres August/September 2013 – to ensure all HNDs are current and fit for purpose

opportunities to:- Look at opportunities to reduce
assessment/remove prescriptive assessment conditions, if not required
- Include updated content, taking account of changing environments within the various sectors e.g. Accommodation Management
- Introduce new subjects/content where appropriate e.g. Cloud Computing, Ethical Hacking, Mobile Technology
