“I have seen God’s love in action here.” “I am learning and growing to be more like Jesus.”
“There are a variety of activities to do for fun and/or for service.”
“My church is a safe place to discover and develop my talents.” “God’s love for me is reaffirmed by both word and action.”
Look over the pages that follow herein to find God’s love for you in a multitude of ways.
In Wing Chun Kung Fu the basis for all of its movements, offensive and defensive, is rooted in the Center Line Theory. Hang in there please! I promise I am not making this up and you will understand as you continue. I’ve studied some Wing Chun Kung Fu and am a novice at best. The center line theory is all of your body’s mechanical power is strongest when coming from your center line, which runs down the center of your body from the top of your head between your eyes, nostrils, and navel. Wing Chun is amazing in its simplicity and takes years of practice to master the extremely direct movements from the center line. Nothing elaborate or extravagant like some other kung fu movies that come to mind. Even if you don’t like martial arts, this discipline is very intriguing in its seeming effortlessness in a fight.
Christians have a center line theory too and as you can probably guess that center line is Jesus. All of our power is best utilized along and from this center line and, like Wing Chun, when used well is amazing in its simplicity. Everyone has a center line, but not everyone uses it. In Wing Chun you could rely on your strength and how hard you can swing, but center line allows you to punch the shortest distance with effortless strength. In Christianity we have Jesus as our center line, but many use passion, conviction, or personal experience as the source of their strength. That doesn’t mean the center line isn’t there, it just means it’s not being used and therefore more effort is needed.
Undeniably great Christian leaders from the Apostles to this day use Jesus as their center line. Jesus is where their bold faith comes from; not from their effort to have bold faith. With Jesus as the center line of our faith our strength becomes natural instead of a forced effort. After all, to be a Christian is naturally to be a follower of Christ. When we deviate from that and become Christians based on guilt, on passion, on knowledge of the Bible, on having “higher” morals we complicate our efforts and are forced to find roundabout ways that require far more energy to be effective which often wears us out.
Wing Chun is like every other sport or activity; if you want to get really good at it you have to start with the basics as the base for the fantastic things you can do. You can’t run a marathon before you walk. Passion, knowledge, conviction, and personal experience, when coming from the center line of Jesus, will pack the strong punch that you seek.

Alpha Class News
Due to the weather and illness, the Alpha Class did not have a meeting in January. Our projects for the last couple of months of 2017 included making 15 Thanksgiving boxes for the Food Pantry and a donation to Shop With A Cop. We are so thankful that we are able to donate to these worthwhile causes.
We are hoping to be able to meet more in 2018. It’s a new year and we are looking forward to getting “back on track”. The date for the February meeting will be decided during an upcoming class time.
Thought I would include some February facts:
February 3 – Norman Rockwell’s birthday.
February 8 – The Boy Scouts of America were incorporated on this day in 1910.
February 14 – Valentine’s Day.
February is also: National Potato Lover’s Month, Chinese New Year, National Cherry Month, National Bird Feeding Month, and National Snack Food Month.
And now, a Valentine word scramble game:

Euchre Night at the church on Friday, February 2nd from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Bring finger foods and
snacks to share. Beverages are provided. Come and enjoy a fun time of fellowship.
Prayer Meeting on Sunday, February 4th Meet at the church at 6:00 p.m. for a time set aside for prayer for our families, for this church, for our community, for our state, for our nation, and for our individual needs.
We’ll be praying for protection from Satan and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms and against the spirits of bondage/addiction, unbelief, pride, and fear operating in our country. Then we can experience first hand the strong arm of God and His Spirit moving through our land.
Every week plates are set out for a free will offering of a dollar. At the end of the month the money collected is given to someone in the community in need. Church members can recommend someone who has been hit
with difficult times. Application forms are available at the Welcome Center or on our web page at sardiniacc.com under Our Ministries/The Dollar Difference. Getting involved can make a dollar difference for someone!

A bit of information concerning Shrove Tuesday: Shrove Tuesday is the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday which is the day Lent (the 40 days leading up to Easter) begins. The purpose of Lent is the preparation of the believer through prayer, doing penance, mortifying the flesh, repentance of sins, almsgiving, and self-denial. Shrove Tuesday is a day of penitence, to clean the soul, and a day of celebration as the last chance to feast before Lent begins. On Shrove Tuesday, Anglo-Saxon Christians went to confession and were “shriven” or absolved from their sins; hence the name. Shrove Tuesday is sometimes called Pancake Day after the fried batter recipe traditionally eaten on this day.
Thank you to all who so faithfully and generously kept our food pantry able to serve many families this past 2017 year. In 2017 we served 336 families which included 1112 individuals. As you can see, your donations were a blessing to many. In addition we served at Thanksgiving 80 holiday boxes with turkeys and at Christmas 82 boxes with hams. Jan Crawford and Mr. Drake served 741 families with produce.
Again "Thank You" for your blessings and the generosity of your donations. Food Pantry Committee
