Straightening and Despatch :

At BSP’s Merchant Mill and Rail & Structural Mill every piece of each sectionis straightened through a straightening machine. Heavy structurals fromR&S Mill are despatched piece wise while light structurals from MerchantMill are clubbed in bundles of 8-12 tonnes in fixed length.

Angles from Merchant Mill for TLT manufacturers can be nested andpacketted, after piece by piece inspection. Customers are requested tospecify this, if required.

At DSP’s Section Mill 100% products are straightened.

ApplicationsApplications : Leak proof retaining wall in construction of dams, bridgefoundation, construction in ports.Advantages : Sharp edged lock may be considered as being tight. Due toself-locking facilities these can be erected very easily and quickly withoutany extra fixing details, Z-Piling retaining wall can resist higher amount oftransverese thrust in comparison to wall of other equivalent structuralsections.Typical Length : 11 meters and above.

ApplicationsApplications : To support underground galleries in collieries and forconstructions of tunnels in hydroelectric projects etc.

Advantages : Can resist higher amount of axial compresive load incomparison to equivalent ISMB joist sections.Due to its configuration, itcan be bent to arch shape without any corrugation. Sliding joint facilityhelps to release exces overburden load.

Typical Length : 11.5 meters and above. Length below 11.5 m can alsobe supplied.

High Temperature StrengthSAIL TMT-HCR-A, SAIL TMT-HCR-M, SAIL TMT-HCR-P reinforcement bars exhibit higherthermal resistance even at temperatures up to 600°C. The retention of significant strengthor, in other words, resistance to softening, is attributed to design of steel chemistry, presenceof tempered martensite layer on the rebar surface and absence of any cold worked structuralzone. Thus the thermally hardened SAIL TMT-HCR-A, SAIL TMT-HCR-M, SAIL TMT-HCR-P rebars are ideal for use in places prone to fire hazards.

Grades and Specifications

Magnetic and Mechanical Properties

CRNO steels from RSP are graded on the basis of Epstein Core Loss Testat magnetic induction of 1.5 Tesla. The maximum core loss limit is basedupon the general procedure established by the American Society for Testingand Materials (ASTM A 34). For this purpose RSP has set up a fully equippedand modern testing laboratory consisting of among other equipment, asophisticated Digital Core Loss Testing Unit. Other test instruments includeFranklin Surface Insulation Resistance Tester, Hay Bridge, DC HysteresisLoop Tracer etc.

Magnetic properties and lamination factor of SAIL CRNO coils/sheets arein conformity ASTM A 677 specifications.

The values are measured in accordance with ASTM A34/JIS C 2550 methodsusing as sheared specimens consisting of half of the strip parallel and halfsheared transverse to the rolling directions.

Magnetic Ageing : The Non-Oriented steels will have less than 5% increasein core loss upon a standard ageing treatment (at 2250C for 24 hours). Gradingis done based on watt loss value obtained after ageing.

Packing : The material is first wrapped in stretch film over card boardprotectors in the eye and OD edges followed by an additional layer of air-bubble polythene type covering. It is then packed in galvanised sheet metalenvelope. Metallic collars are provided in the eye of the coil and on the ODto prevent handling damages. The envelope with strapped with 4 eye and 3to 4 circumferential straps. Additional support is provided when warranted. No metallic packing is given on slit coil.
