BeforeReadingThinkaboutanddiscussthequestion:Whatdoesitmeanwhenapersonisdescribedashavingabigheart?

DuringReadingReadHowtheGrinchStoleChristmas!tothestudents.Studentslisten,identifyingtheelementsofplotandthinkingaboutthepurposetheseelementsserveinthedevelopmentofthestory.AfterReadingDiscussionQuestionsStudentscanworkingroupstodiscussthequestions.However,Ididn’thavealotoftime,soIaskedaquestion,providedtimeforthink-pair-share,andthenstudentsresponded.Sincethisistheirfirstexperiencewithapplyingacademicvocabularytoanalyzingastory,theywereencouragedtoreferencetheirnotesduringthediscussions.
