Selections• Lots of time is spent making

selections

• Once a selection is made, changes to the image only take place inside of the selection

• Selections can be done based on:

• Regular shapes

• Tones and colors

• “Edges”

• Freehand

Formats for the WWW

- JPEG- Supports “millions of colors”

- Supports various levels of compression

GIF- Supports 256 colors

(only 216 for the Web)

- Supports animations- Supports

transparent areas

• Ensure your color mode

• Image->Mode->RGB Color

• Ensure your dpi

• Image->Image Size and ensure dpi is set for 72

• Ensure your scale

• Look at the title bar and zoom until it reads 100%-> This is the size of your web image

• Choose File-Save for Web

• Use the “Optimize” tab to see how the original will actually look.

• Try various compression settings.

• Remember, “Save for Web” saves a COPY of the original
