Our Rosary intentions this week:
The Epiphany of our Lord
The Epiphany of Our Lord is the Christian
feast observed on Jan. 3, 2016. The word
“epiphany” comes from the Greekepiphainen, a
verb that means "to shine upon," "to manifest," or
“to make known.” Thus, the feast of the Epipha-
ny celebrates the many ways that Christ has
made Himself known to the world, mainly the
three events that manifested the mission and di-
vinity of Christ: the visit of the Magi (Matthew
2:1-12), the baptism of Jesus (Mark 1:9-11), and
the miracle at Cana (John 2:1-11).
The visit of the Magi is emphasized on Epipha-
ny Day, and Christ's baptism is celebrated the
first Sunday that follows.

The Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy is a remarkable occasion during which the entire Catholic Church, under the humble leadership of Pope Francis, opens wide the doors to the saving mercy of Christ. The Year of Mercy is celebrat-ed from December 8th, 2015—the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and the 50th anniversary of the closing of Vati-can II— to the Solemnity of Christ the King on November
20, 2016. During this special period of time in the Church, Pope Francis calls all Catholics to be profound witnesses to mercy and to "find the joy rediscovering and rendering fruitful God's mer-cy, with which we are all called to give comfort to every man and every woman of our time."
