This programme will reflect on issues that are relevant to our continued growth through the many changes and transitions that are part of this phase of life. Part One will be offered on four consecutive Tuesdays, beginning September 13 at St. Bartholomew’s church from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Sessions will be facilitated by Sister Mary Rose Marrin, a Maturing Adults Minister with certification from the Johnson Institute in St. Louis MO. Brochures are available in the lobby with further information. Registration is appreciated, though walk-ins are welcome. To register, please phone the parish office at 416- 291- 5250 Ext.201 or sign up in the church lobby after weekend Masses prior to Tuesday, September 13. GROUP (Ages18-39) HIKE AND PRAYER: AMAZING RACE, Saturday, September 24, 2016 — 1:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., Mustard Seed, 791 Queen St E, Toronto Join other young adults on a scavenger hunt race around the city! Prizes include a dinner for 4 at Vino Rosso, and 4 tickets to the Hockey Hall of Fame. We'll start at Mustard Seed, a ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto, and end with pizza and pop at the formation house of the Sisters on Palmerston Boulevard. Cost: $20 (if a concern, please contact us.) Registration required by September 12 Contact Leigh-Anne Best at [email protected] and cc: the church at [email protected] for more information or to RSVP for the events Being a disciple is not for the faint of heart or half-committed. Jesus is clear about requiring detachment --- from people and things. We have heard this before in the Gospel. The Gospel makes clear what the demands are. It’s up to us to search our own hearts honestly and trust that we will not be left to walk the path alone. “Which of you wishing to construct a tower does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if there is enough for its completion?” --- Luke 14:28 First Reading from Wisdom 9:13-18b God is inscrutable. Second Reading from Philemon 9-10, 12-17 Paul wishes to return the slave Onesimus to Philemon. Gospel from Luke 14:25-33 Discipleship require detachment.
