4th Community Liaison Group Meeting was successfully held at Kwun Tong Community Centre on 8 February 2018.
Finding a Way Out for Stray Dogs Around the Site
The contractor CWSTVJV works with NGO and volunteers to deal with stray dogs issue in the development area under the premise of maintaining the site safety and reducing nuisance to nearby residents. The contractor has received an appreciation letter from the NGO, which expressed appreciation for CWSTVJV on the social responsibility.
Ma Yau Tong Village
Representatives from Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD), AECOM and the contractor Chun Wo-STEC-Vasteam Joint Venture (CWSTVJV) made a visit to Ma Yau Tong villagers on 16 March 2018.
The project team briefed the villagers of the project progress, as well as actively provided feedback on construction arrangements. The project team also followed up with the discussed issues, to minimize the construction impact to residents.
Certificate of Good Performance in the Construction Industry Safety Award Scheme 2017/2018
The contractor CWSTVJV emphasizes on developing safety culture as well as encourages workers to work safely, and has been awarded the “Certificate of Good Performance” in the Construction Industry Safety Award Scheme 2017/2018 for doing well in civil engineering safety construction.
The consultant AECOM Asia Company Limited and the contractor CWSTVJV have been respectively awarded “Appreciation Award” and “Bronze Award” in the Construction Site Safety Award 2017, for proactively improving safety level and maintaining sound site safety management.

Development of Anderson Road Quarry Site – Road Improvement Works and Pedestrian Connectivity Facilities Works Phase 2A (Contract No. NE/2017/03) has commenced in May 2018, and is expected to be completed by
the end of 2023. This contract is to cope with the traffic flow in the new development district in the future.
Improvement works at the junction of Clear Water Bay Road and On Sau Road, including the provision of a U-turn facility at Clear Water Bay Road near Fei Ngo Shan Road, to improve the efficiency of the use of junctions and reduce the occurrence of traffic jam
Widening of a section of New Clear Water Bay Road (Kowloon bound) near Shun Lee Tsuen Road from single-lane to two-lane, to reduce the queue length due to a bottle-neck section
a Alternation of the design of the junction of Sau Mau Ping Road/Lin Tak Road, and construction of a new vehicular flyover from Lin Tak Road to Sau Mau Ping Road, to provide a free-flow carriageway from Lin Tak Road and Sau Mau Ping Road into the sliproad to TKO Road
b Lengthening the roadside loading/unloading bay at the section of Lin Tak Road near Hong Wah Court and Hing Tin Estate in Lam Tin, to avoid the blockage of traffic flow due to pick-up and drop-off of passengers

Welcome to the fifth issue of the Newsletter for the Development of Anderson Road Quarry Site. In this newsletter, we will provide the project progress and the relevant information. We also welcome your feedback and suggestions on the project.
The contractor Kwan On Construction Co Ltd cares about workers’ occupational safety and health, and tries to provide safe and healthy working environment. It has been awarded the “Hearing Conservation Best Practices Award”, “Prevention of Pneumoconiosis Best Practices Award” and “Good Organization Award” issued by Occupational Safety and Health Council in the year of 2017/2018.

In order to cope with the Anderson Road Quarry Site Development project, the contractor will hire a traffic consultant in advance so as to provide suggestions on temporary traffic arrangements for various road works. The proposals have to be discussed in the Traffic Management Liaison Group Meeting. Before the launch of the temporary traffic arrangements, trial runs and on-site assessments are conducted as required by the Police for proper implementation. Temporary traffic arrangements recently implemented for this project are as follows:
Since the beginning of 2018, noise monitoring stations have been set up in On Tai Estate and Ma Yau Tong Village respectively. The relevant data are published in the Environmental Monitoring and Audit Report regularly and reported to the Environmental Protection Department. Moreover, during the construction of the project, noise measurements are arranged at nearby schools or buildings, including the Chinese Christian Church Mong Man Wai College and Hiu Wah Building, to ensure that the impact of the project on nearby residents is minimized. At the same time, the engineering team actively explained to resident representatives about the construction locations, works progress of the project, and the use of various environmental mitigation measures in response to residents' concerns on environmental issues.
