With dental offices beginning to reopen post COVID-19, it is extremely important to focus on patient communication and engagement in order to quickly bounce back. This guide contains recommendations that will help build trust and remove the high level anxiety patients might experience when entering a dental office. Patients will be fearful of walking into any business, and providing information on proactive safety measures will boost patient confidence and trust. Patients will expect higher standards for safety and cleanliness, so it is important to communicate that each office is following ADA, CDC, and OSHA safety protocols.

the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) we are taking all steps to ensure your safety.

We ask for your understanding that we will be screening every person that walks

into our clinic which includes a brief questionnaire along with taking your

temperature.

Please consider postponing your appointment if you have any of the following

symptoms:

• Fever

• Currently have a cough or shortness of breath

• History of significant chronic illness

• Compromised immune system

• You or a family member are considered high-risk

• You or a family member have traveled to a location with a level 3 travel notice

• Airline travel in the past 2 weeks

• Previously asked to self-quarantine

• Close contact to an individual diagnosed with COVID-19 infection

Our office is continually ensuring the disinfection of our office: We are cleaning 4x a

day, we continually clean each room, instrument, and surface before and after each

patient. Every staff member is monitored and temperatures taken twice a day.

At our office, we follow recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

• All surfaces and equipment are wiped down with disinfectant between patients. We sterilize all equipment using best-in-class sterilization machines between each patient.

• Our team members also routinely sterilize patient waiting rooms and frequently touched surfaces.

• All team members that work in clinical spaces will always be in Personal Protective Equipment (mask, gloves, eye protection, gowns) appropriate for the procedure being rendered.

• All team members perform regular hand hygiene.

You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:

• Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.

• We will take each patients temperature prior to the appointment.• We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office. You

will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.

• You may see that our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.

• Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.

• We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.
