The Magnes Auditorium, 2121 Allston Way, Berkeley, CA 94720
Jon Voss is the Strategic Partnerships Director at Shift, a non-profit that allows a global community of individuals to share historical documents. HistoryPin was created with initial support from Google (2011) and consists of a web platform and a series of local volunteer led community projects that together increase local social capital and reduce social isolation.
Jon will explore the uses of HistoryPin and other Digital Humanities platforms for cultural institutions, such as The Magnes, by capitalizing on HistoryPins partnerships around the world.
ABOUT THE SERIESEach week, UC Berkeley faculty and students, visiting artists and other notable guests present brief lectures focused on selected treasures from the The Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life. These flash exhibitions include the opportunity to view art and artifacts up close. Bring your own lunch, enjoy complimentary refreshments, and take part in an exciting learning program, free and open to the public.
