HistoryPin was created with initial support from Google (2011) and consists of a “web platform and a series of local volunteer led community projects that together increase local social capital and reduce social isolation”. Jon will explore the uses of HistoryPin and other Digital Humanities platforms for cultura l institutions, such as The Magnes, by capitalizing on Histor yPin’s partnerships around the world. ABOUT THE SERIES Each week, UC Berkeley faculty and students, visiting artists and other notable guests present brief lectures focused on selected treasures from the The Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life. These “flash” exhibitions include the opportunity to view art and artifacts up close.
