FESTIVAL OPENINGFriday, November 2, 1.30pmEden Killer Whale MuseumReflect, reminisce and share stories aboutEden’s past, present and future at the offi-cial opening of the Whale Festival weekendat Eden’s iconic Eden Killer Whale museum.Michael Gandon, Fairfax Regional Mediajournalist and grandson of historic photog-rapher William Hall, will officiate at theopening.Museum happenings on the day include theWilliam Hall Photographic Exhibition, ABCOpen’s Now and Then – Bega Valley exhibi-tion of photographs and presentations pro-duced by Vanessa Milton ABC Open. The Eden Remembers Facebook page dedi-cated to memories and reflections fromEden’s past will be online and museum vol-unteers will show you through the thou-sands of photos already posted there. Music by Eden Marine High School andafternoon tea provided by museum volun-teers.Free admission to the Museum Theatrettefrom Imlay Street during the Whale Festivalweekend.

STREET PARADESaturday, November 3, 10am to 11amImlay StreetGet ready to be drummed into this year’sstreet parade as the Pambula SchoolDrummers set the marching beat from9.30am onwards. Big boys toys will leadthe parade commencing at 10am from theflag pole roundabout, up Imlay Street andthen down to the Snug Cove precinct wheremany will be on display; logging trucks, hotrods, classic cars, vintage trucks and cars,local trucking company rigs, purpose builtammunition vehicle and the BOC V8 car.Then come the bands including theBateman’s Bay Pipe Band and the SapphireCoast Concert Band, all while the POG cir-cus weave their way throughout the crowd.Bring a brollie if you don’t want to get wet –ESSCI’s spouting whale has taken many aparade watcher by surprise!

SCOOTER RACINGImmediately after the street parade, hangaround for the Ability Mobility scooter rac-ing down Chandos Street. Forget Bathurst,forget Phillip Island - this is real racingaction, as our senior citizens put the pedalto the metal and take on all comers.Owners of mobility scooters are invited totake part in events over obstacles, relaysand much, much more racing action. TRASHFORMATION COMPETITIONEXHIBITIONFrom 11am on Saturday check out theTRASHFORMATION exhibition in theCaptain’s Table at the Eden Fishermen’sClub. See the masterpieces clever little andbig tikes come up with when faced with thechallenge of re-using, re-thinking and recy-cling trash and transforming it into unique,useful, needful or decorative objet dárt.

SNUG COVEEden wharf precinct.All weekend.Festival central and perfectly positionedbetween Eden’s main street and onshorewhale watching hot spot, the Eden Lookout.The shore front will host local producestalls, hot rod displays, truck displays, per-formances by the Great Zamboni, ‘GetFresh’ seafood cooking demonstrations,Footprint Theatre performances and more.

SATURDAY NIGHT WHALESONG & SYDNEY PORTS CORPORATIONFIREWORKS Saturday night from 6pm Snug Cove trans-forms into a stage for Whale song, theWhale Festival’s key live music event. SUNDAY RECOVERY Following Saturday’s festival fun, preparefor a more reflective Sunday, starting with amemorial service at the Seaman’sMemorial Wall up near the Lookout at 9am.Then it’s time to give thanks for the whaleswith a thanksgiving service at Snug Cove.Wind down and kick back withBrunchalicious, a brunch featuring localproduce and local cooking talent set in a to-die-for setting at Snug Cove, from 10.30 to12.30pm.
