Saturday,March24,2018,membersoftheCatholicMen’sFellowshipfromSt.FrancisXavierandSt.JosephParisheswillbehosEngtheNinthAnnualNothingWastedCharityDinneratLoyolaBlakefieldHighSchool.Wineandhord’oeuvreswillbeservedinKnoQHallat6:00pmfollowedbyDinnerat6:30pm.Fr.DominicTotaro,S.J.,amissionarytoNigeriaforeighteenyears,willbethespeaker.Youareinvitedandthereisnochargeforthedinner. CatholicMen’sFellowshipfromSt.FrancisXavierfoundedanddirectthecharity“Nothing’sWasted”inhonorofFatherFrancis(Frank)McGauleyS.J.,amemberofthemen’sgroupfornearlyfouryearsandpreviouslyaJesuitmissionaryinIndiafor31yearswhereheiniEatedandoversawthebuildingofchurchesandschoolsforsomeofIndia’spoorestpeople.

Fr.McGauleydiedin2008a]eraprolongedseriesofmedicalsetbacks.Hislifehadaprofoundeffectonmanypeople.Inhisremembrance,thecharitywasfoundedinhishonor.Fr.McGauleygaveusthreeimportanttenetstoliveby.First,beapprecia)veofeverything.Second,alwaysencourageothers,sotheycanbecomewhatGodhadplannedforthem.Andthird,Godletnothinggotowaste;allofourexperiences,whethergoodorbad,areusedbyGodtoprofitus.

Fr.McGauleyusedtotellstoriesaboutthevillagewomeninIndiawhowouldwalkamileormoreeachdayforthewatertheirfamiliesneeded.Thewater,typicallydrawnfromapollutedsource,suchasbeingtaintedwithradioacEveuranium,wouldthenbecarriedbacktobeusedandreusedforbathing,drinking,cleaningandcookingfood,washingdishes,andfinallywhateverwasle]overwouldbeplacedonthesmallvegetablesgrowinginthegardensbehindtheirhuts.Thus,evolvedthenamegivenforthecharity-“Nothing’sWasted.”

Todate,inhonorofFr.McGauley’slife,themoniesdonatedhaveresultedinthebuildingof74wellswithaddiEonalwellsinprogress.Thegoalandfocusof“Nothing’sWasted”istoconEnuetoprovideaddiEonalwellsinvillageswhereFr.McGauleyserved.TheMen’sGroupsdonatesthegoodsandmaterialsforthedinnerandtheJesuitSocietytransfersandoverseesthefundswithoutanyadministraEveoverhead,thus100%ofalldonaEonsreceivedareusedtodigtheneededwells.
