County Kerry
County Kerry is known as the Kingdom. It is found in the southwest of Ireland and is one of the six counties in Munster.
• It is bordered by counties Limerick and Cork.• The Atlantic Ocean is to the west and the
River Shannon to the north.• There are many peninsulas and inlets along

• Kerry is one of the most mountainous regions in Ireland. Carountoohil is the highest mountain in Ireland and is part of the Macgillycuddy’s Reeks range.
• Mount Brandon is Ireland’s second higest peak and is part of the slieve Mish range.

• The Lakes of Kilarney are found in Killarney National Park. These beautiful lakes are a very popular tourist location.
• There are three main lakes, Lough Leane, Muckross Lake and the Upper Lake.
Coastline
• Kerry has one of the most beautiful coastlines in Ireland. The coastline juts out into the ocean.
• The Dingle Peninsula is the most westerly point of Ireland and Europe.

• Many tourists like to travel the Ring of Kerry.• It is a 170km circular scenic route that begins
in Killarney and goes through Kenmare and the Gap of Dunloe.
Climate
• As Kerry is so mountainous, it gets some of the highest rainfall in Ireland.
• However, the climate in Kerry is milder than in other parts of Ireland.
• This is because of the North Atlantic Gulf Stream that flows along the coast of Kerry.
Sport
• Gaeilic football is very popular in Kerry.• The county has won the All-Ireland
Championship (Sam McGuire Cup) more times than any other county.
