EconomyatGlance:Taiwanhasadynamiccapitalisteconomy.Exports,ledbyelectronics,machinery,andpetrochemicalshaveprovidedtheprimaryimpetusforeconomicdevelopment.FreetradeagreementshaveproliferatedinEastAsiaoverthepastseveralyears.FollowingthelandmarkEconomicCoopera9onFrameworkAgreement(ECFA)signedwithChinainJune2010,TaiwaninJuly2013signedafreetradedealwithNewZealandand,inNovember,inkedatradepactwithSingapore.Theislandrunsatradesurplus,largelybecauseofitssurpluswithChina,anditsforeignreservesaretheworld'sfiahlargest,behindthoseofChina,Japan,SaudiArabia,andSwitzerland.In2006ChinaovertooktheUStobecomeTaiwan'ssecond-largestsourceofimportsaaerJapan.Chinaisalsotheisland'snumberonedes9na9onforforeigndirectinvestment.Taiwansince2009hasgraduallyloosenedrulesgoverningChineseinvestmentontheislandandhasalsosecuredgreatermarketaccessforitsinvestorsinthemainland.TheForbesreportin2015rankedTaiwanin“bestcountriesforbusiness”No:21andin“Innova9on”No:11Taiwaninfigures2015:GDP(PPP):USD530bn.GDPGrowth:3.8%GDPperCapita:$46,000TradeBalance/GDP:12.4%Popula9on:23.4MPublicDebt/GDP:33%Unemployment:4%Infla9on:1.2%

Registration and Costs We have been able to work out the following package which includes, transfers, hotel accommodation in five star hotels, and selected meals as indicated in the program. Singapore Airlines and Emirates have offered us special rates for this mission. Prices are subject to change and depend also on the number of participants in this mission.
