Beginners welcome to join activities anytime!
Non-members of the center are invited to participate in Pitch, Bridge, Cribbage, Pinochle, Dominoes or Crafts for $5.00 per activity. The daily activity fee of $ .50 donated by all activity participants will be waived. Members may invite a potential member as a free guest but please sign into the office in advance of the activity to notify the staff.
Use of the Exercise Studio with Membership ~ No Additional Charge ~ Free & Healthy
Fitness Studio Instructions: Please stop into the office before using the equipment in the fitness studio and let a
staff member know that you will be using the equipment before each use -- for your safety. First time users will be instructed by a staff member on the use of the room and equipment and will answer any questions. The center is not responsible for improper use or accidents in the fitness room. Walk, Stretch & Chair Exercises Tuesday's & Thursday’s

Cost is $1.00 per session Participants with walkers and canes are welcome!! Please check with your doctor before participating.
Bring a friend to the Center ~ provide them with a
tour of the computer / library area, the exercise studio, the puzzle, magazine and newspaper
area, introduce them to the Center staff for further information about the
activities plus a complimentary newsletter will be available.
Summer Social
Thank You Members & Friends of the Center that participated in the annual Summer Ice Cream Social. There were so many delicious homemade pies to choose from plus patrons enjoyed ice cream and sloppy joe sandwiches. Additional pieces of pie were sold following the social to benefit the proceeds. Special Thanks also to the many individuals listed on the donation page of the newsletter that:

HOW ABOUT YOU? Wills and bequests are like a road map that tells how to distribute your assets to family members, friends and charitable organizations. Estate planning also includes other methods of transferring your assets, during your lifetime as well as death, such as trusts and annuities. The Main Street Center is a gift-worthy non-profit organization that can benefit from planned gifts such as bequests, trusts, and annuities. These types of planned gifts insure the future for the next generation. You may also wish to donate a tax-deductible gift to the center for operational needs; members and friends will appreciate your support.
Notes from the Director’s Office: The Executive Board and the Center Director are interested in your ideas and suggestions for the center. The board meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month @ 9:30 am. A copy of the board minutes is available in the office. Board Meeting Notes _ August 9, 2018: n Finance report - Income & Expense reports were read
& accepted. The financial report indicated that the portfolio numbers show concern but at this time still remain strong. n Facilities: Ken reported the shed roofing project is
completed. The water heater is also installed. Still concerned about moisture problem in front of building. Loren Dake of Olson Pest volunteered to clean out the gutters around the building and the wasp problem is better. n Membership: 2 renewals and 3 new annual members
in July. 1 death of a member n Challenges & Donations were reported n Nutrition: Deana & Carol, new DSM staff are
providing wonderful meals and service plus their numbers seem to be increasing. n Old Business: The board reviewed the questions
from the survey drawn up by SAGE Consultants and approved it for sending out to members and the community donors and individuals. n New Business: ROCS met with the board to discuss
the need for a usage agreement with the Center. n Director Report: Hy-Vee donated a check for the
coupon fundraiser held in July of $372.74. Ice Cream social this evening, reminder to board members and hope to see them in attendance. New activities of Carbles on Tuesday mornings & Mahjongg on Thursday mornings are showing some interest on both days. n The next executive board meeting will be Thursday,
September 20 (please note date change). Members are encouraged and welcome to attend.

The Vermillion School District is providing complimentary adult activity card for the 2018 - 2019 school year for members of the Main Street
Center. Stop into the office to pick up.
It takes a devoted and enthusiastic group of individuals to continually support the Center for the

501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Use of the computers in the library/computer room
