A Letter to the Congregation from Glen Shady
Dear Fifth Avenue,
Back in December and January, it was announced at both of the congregational meetings that my family andI would be leaving Fifth Avenue by June. We have been feeling for some time that God was nudging us tomove onto a new chapter in our lives, but we have not been sure of what that chapter would be until
recently. A few weeks ago we decided that we are going to move our family to Cincinnati so that I canattend Cincinnati Bible Seminary and study for a 4-year Master of Divinity degree. I am also hoping to finda part-time preaching position during these four years.
In order for this to even be possible, we knew I would have to take on the role of full-time dad along withfull-time student, and Jessica would need to find a job that could support us. Thinking that this was a talltask, especially in this job market, we decided to have Jessica send out resumes at the beginning of March. We could not have imagined that within a week she would receive multiple interview requests, within twoweeks she would have second interviews for two very good jobs, and at exactly two weeks she wouldreceive job offers from both. Perhaps we could not have fathomed that getting a job that would support ourfamily would be quick and easy, but that is exactly what has happened. So on April 2, Jessica will be
starting as an Administrative Assistant at Cincinnati Childrens Hospital.
Due to these events transpiring so quickly, we will not be able to stay at FACC until June as we hadoriginally hoped. Since we have the girls to take care of, I have to move down to Cincinnati as well whenJessica starts work. Given this abrupt and unusual situation, the elders have graciously come up with thefollowing plan:
I will work full-time as the youth minister until Sunday, April 1, after which our family will movedown to Cincinnati.
I will be brought on as a part-time youth minister starting April 2 and will remain so until Sunday,April 22. During this time I will still teach on Wednesdays and Sundays.
On April 21-22, I will attend the CIY: Believe conference for our Middle School students and thiswill be my last act of service for Fifth Avenue Church of Christ. After this we will have officiallyparted with Fifth Avenue and the elders will be looking for a replacement as soon after that date aspossible.
We look forward to serving FACC in this last month and leaving the childrens and youth ministries in the
best situation possible for all of you to strongly continue on without us. This city and this church have trulybecome our home, and it is with great sadness that we leave. Even in the midst of this sorrow we leave with
great hope; hope that God is truly leading us to make this move and hope that Fifth Avenue will continue togrow to have a strong and faithful presence in the Kingdom.
Thank you to all of you for supporting our family and loving us dearly. Thank you for giving us thisopportunity to start our lifelong careers as a ministry family. Thank you for truly being an extension of ourfamily and forever our brothers and sisters in Christ. We love this church and each of you dearly.
Sincerely,
Glen ShadyYouth Minister

Core Values...Values central to the life, mission and vision of Fifth
Avenue Church of Christ are:
Christ-Centered WorshipWe make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus
through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus oJesus through grace-based preaching and teaching &
understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16)
Church Health and Biblical BalanceChurch health becomes reality when God's people seek
harmony & live consistently. We expect every member protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1
Peter 3:8)
Global EvangelismWe are constant to our founding call to worldwide
evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the
Savior, Healer, and Soon-Coming King (Acts 20:27).
Fellowship and MinistryAfter people begin their journey with Jesus, we will
equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengthWe want everyone to serve in some capacity. (1
Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be thliving evidence of His love and power to the world.
DiscipleshipWe do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth
Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all abouteaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship withHim through a life of obedience. In other words, wewant to see the things you are taught actually change
your lifestyle & your daily decisions.
Social ConscienceWe place high value on the sanctity of human life, of
Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnidiversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).
